Downloaded and will be making a start on shortly (though, given that I'm doing 8hrs overtime at work today, I doubt that I'll be able to listen to it in full)... I had planned on listening to the range in full in the lead-up to the release of this one , but the fourth was an earlier release than I thought

Halfway through. Generally good stuff, especially Armitage’s Rassilon, but Rayo is annoying me a lot. {Spoiler} He’s not willing to trust Narvin cos of a brief remark by Leela (fair enough I suppose, Narvin is untrustworthy as hell) but simultaneously is utterly dedicated to the resistance’s plan even though he met them for about a minute and literally only has a conversation he overheard as proof they have a way to end the Time War. This bizarre characterisation is the entire conflict in Dissolution. And as for Dissolution’s cliffhanger- Trust Braxiatel to prove how goddamn easy it actually was for Romana to escape Unity. That cliffhanger, and her choices leading up to it, never rang true so glad it’s been dismissed.

Well Beyond was good until the ending, which feels weirdly like a scene is missing. {Spoiler} Older Braxiatel tells Romana and present Braxiatel to follow him. Then suddenly present Braxiatel is being pursued and killed by the Ravenous. Older Brax explains he pretty much arranged this to kill the Ravenous then magics up a gateway to somewhere and sends Romana off in his TARDIS.
How did this pursuit just come about? Why is Romana so chill about Brax dying a pretty horrible death right in front of her? Am I missing something here?
This feels like another Unity, when the ending was clearly thought of first but the immediate scenes leading to it just don’t ring true.

Homecoming
And so it ends.
All in all a generally neat way to wrap up the series. The fates of all the characters have a sense of finality (and yes Leela’s ending happily aligns with the War Doctor series). All in a nice bow.
Armitage’s Rassilon is the standout here; there’s a real presence and authority to him, which makes him all the more compelling. He’s utterly mad, but wholeheartedly believes in his madness. He’s an excellent contrast to the more overtly insane Emperor (which is in full Parting of the Ways-style god delusion). Please Big Finish, get him in War Doctor Begins.
So all in all Volume 4 is a satisfying end.

Will get a listen before I hit bed tonight I don’t have really high expectations but I do hope Armitage has a presence as the man is such a great actor and a worthy Rassilon time will tell

I've just listened to part 3 in the bath, which enjoyed & found to be an interesting character piece between Romana and Brax.
Whilst I do have a couple of things to do first, I'm planning on listening to the finale before bed.

'Just finished 'Homecoming'. At about half-past 2 in the morning. Whilst I will say that I did enjoy this episode (and the set as a whole), it did feel a little "... And then what?".
It's fine, I liked it, I just slightly feel as if it needs a little something... 'More'? It's wrapped up ok, and maybe my opinion could benefit from re-listening to the series in full (I haven't listened to the previous boxes since their release), so I could see 'the bigger picture', but I do get the feeling there might be more to tell from the range in the future should they have the right story and weren't doing it for the "sake" of doing it (such as with the Armitage incarnation of Rassilon).
I have my first 'holiday' off from work of 2021 coming up, so I think a full re-listen might be in order!

Finished the first story and enjoyed very much though not a bed time listening tale...the effect of the deception filter was definitely disorientating....onto tale 2 Dissolution-Lou Morgan

I certainly wasn't expecting Romana's fate to tie in with Lalla narrating the Gallifrey Museum intro at the start of the Peter Capaldi era Dr Who Experience in Cardiff.
I'm choosing to believe that the Curator rescues Romana and takes her back to Cambridge for the last scene of Shada 2017.

A few words on Richard Armitage's portrayal of Rassilon in Homecoming: {SPOILERS} Couldn't be impressed enough with how he magnificently captured the essence of Timothy Dalton. Not just the voice, the personality and agenda which foreshadows The End of Time. If there were to be more BF audios with Armitage as Rassilon, they should focus on his leadership and descent towards madness.

I don't have a lot to say about Deception & Dissolution. They're fine and inoffensive, if a little muddled. You get the impression there's much more interesting things happening off-screen based on fleeting remarks by the characters, which is how I feel about the two preceding sets on the whole.
Beyond is a good character piece between Braxiatel & Romana until towards the end where stuff happens just because it's written to happen and you feel like the previous 45 minutes have been a bit of a waste really. I'm not a fan of the Ravenous, or their 'arc' in the Eighth Doctor range, I don't think they're particularly well realised so I'm glad they were just mostly a background threat in this.
Homecoming was great. Richard Armitage's Rassilon is brilliant and I wish he'd played the role in Volume 2, as he just doesn't get enough to do in this final set. He plays it as his own, but very much with a nod towards Dalton's portrayal. I love the Emperor Dalek, his bitchy and bonkers dialogue and the way Nick Briggs delivers it, so I particularly enjoyed his showdown with Rassilon and the contrast and similarities between them both.
However, despite my positive thoughts on Homecoming, I did keep thinking that this should have been the meat of the boxset and ran for a substantial amount of it. A bit like how tensions between Romana and the Emperor felt like they were rising throughout the first set, even though they weren't necessarily at the forefront of each story. You sort of get a "oh, is that it?" vibe from the story, which I guess extends to the majority of the range really. I don't get this planned 16-part epic that was alluded to in Vortex at all. What I get is a perfectly planned opening and then certain scenes or situations that should unfold in the following three volumes, but not necessarily the events that surround that. And I think that lets the range down really.
I feel as though volume one is brilliant as is, Homecoming should have spanned three episodes of volume four, Beyond should have been 4.1 with an ending that is better seeded and Unity should have come a bit earlier on in volume three. The remaining six or seven slots I haven't got any substantial thoughts, except it needs to mostly stick to Gallifrey, feel like one bigger whole and try not to make the more intriguing stuff happen off screen and alluded to in throwaway comments.

Leela so unafraid even of Rassilon Louise quite shines in the final moments with him,if I was Rassilon I would be afraid 😂 Armitage really comes across just as mad as The Emperor Dalek...a very well played incarnation. Romanas fate is pretty fitting and....survivable...we know Leelas fate from the War Doctors sets. I do think the final story was perhaps the strongest and it would have been great to have further interactions with Armitage and our Gallifrey friends. I would say a fitting end to the saga....I hope all the other Time War Sagas come to and end too 😂😂😂😂
