I found this a very interesting story, considering BF's business model

That she is describing her situation as "unfairly dismissed" from a project that it's not clear she was ever even invited to participate in is an....interesting choice of phrase. Particularly since none of the original cast is returning. Maybe there's more to the story that's not public, but as Chicken Run was a one-off movie 20 years ago, not a long-term show (Doctor Who) with voice actors playing the same role in countless productions in the years between (Scooby Doo voice actors), this is a hard one for me to get fired up about. You had a fun job one time, and you're mad they didn't call you 20 years later? Really?

A quick look at the original cast reveals a lot of yesterday's faces: Miranda Richardson, Timothy Spall, Jane Horrocks, Phil Daniels, Imelda Staunton. And the big name: Mel Gibson, whose views are not very fashionable at the moment, to put it mildly. So yes. It seems a clean sweep of the coop is in order to make this a fresh start. I don't think it's personal.

No, I appreciate it's not like the situation with "Scoob", where they announced the all-star cast without telling the regular cast they weren't being used (although it looks like the next Scooby-Doo project is going to bring back accustomed voice actors), but it's clearly the kind of project where people would be very keen to return and expect to return.

Me see’s this is no more than a way to get column inches and your name back in papers since, the staged sister row has gone quiet and the Ab Fab project now officially over.
She is hardly a name any longer, or a big draw for the first movie......
But more chicken run? Do we really want it.........

Think of it from the marketing wonks view, perhaps as a film that the Kids take their Parents or Grandparents to see, rather than vice versa and with some incentive for their minders. Moving on a generation, the 'Great Escape' homage is probably out as the Grandparents will no longer remember 'The War' (or watching it on Boxing Day, at least). In its place maybe an 'I'm a Celebrity/Love Island/Big Brother' style must-get-out-of-here escapade. The late 90's Ab Fab comedy generation could well be supplanted by popular 'in' names such as James Corden, Miranda Hart, Graham Norton, Brendan O'Carroll, Judy Dench, Idris Elba etc. In fact, i'd happily put money on at least one of them being on the watch list. I don't necessarily hope it is all that predictable, but that's the way things seem to roll these days.

Am I missing something as this seems like a none story. Sequel to 20 year old movie been made with new cast and as courtesy informing old cast.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I love Chicken Run and I was disappointed that Ms Sawalha hadn’t been invited back but everyone’s right: nobody else from the original cast seems to be either, so I’m guessing that we can blame Mel Gibson for that.

Even though I don’t think anyone in the world of cinema was clamouring for the next instalment in the thrilling saga that is ‘Chicken Run’ I wouldn’t have minded seeing the old cast return.
Of course, as many of you have pointed out if no one is returning then it’s very likely they’re going for a fresh start with a whole cast to better suit this new generation. (Also, was she ever even officially announced to be attached to the sequel? Or is this just a case of people assuming?)
Either way, I must confess that the cynical side of me thinks that after this little announcement Ms Sawalha will be getting a lot more offers of work in the near future.
