An experimental radio mast has been set up on a remote island. It has been picking up signals – a voice that claims it knows the future.
Five people have come to the island to hear the voice. A scientist, a soldier, a medium, an alienist and the most powerful woman in the world. The voice has something to say to all of them. It starts by saying who will be the first to die.
out today

A macabre Christie/Conan Doyle style Whodunit with inventive use of the "Medium" so this time you almost root for stubborn old Queen Vic.
Another good sound design and "on location" behind the scenes piece.
4/5

Definitely one with a more classical mystery/ chiller feel Regards mark687

'Glad to see this one's out.
Mac allowing (it's having some issues downloading at the moment), I'm hoping to listen to this at some point this evening!

Nothing groundbreaking, but I found it enjoyable. Rowena Cooper is charismatic as always and the tone was quite creepy. A nice way to spend an hour.

I will be totally honest- I had expected an atmospheric creepy story. But sadly, it lacked behind expectations a bit. One of the biggest problems I had was that about halfway through, I knew exactly how this would be playing out and that took all of the tension out of it. So yeah, sadly, not my cup of tea. However, the performances were great, so I cannot fault that.

You know, upon reflecting on this release I can’t help but feel it might have been more effective had The Voice sounded like Albert. I know they acknowledge this towards the end but I think it might have highlighted some of the weaknesses in Victoria’s character and given her more of a moral dilemma when it comes to her interaction with it.
Mind you, I can see why they didn’t and I suspect that Albert might appear somewhere down the line as a recurring character. I can definitely see a release where a younger Queen Victoria, pre the foundation of Torchwood encounters alien life.

I can definitely see a release where a younger Queen Victoria, pre the foundation of Torchwood encounters alien life. I was exactly the opposite. I felt like the creep factor was much stronger with the voice being Victoria’s. To me Albert’s voice would be the easy choice and from a character point of view a deterrent to the voice getting what it wanted because she rationally would know it wasn’t Albert. Where as hearing yourself, much more effective. I do love the Victoria strand of Torchwood monthly releases. I would go as far as saying these monthly releases are the strongest, most consistent range that BF currently produces.

Listened to this today. We all knew that Victoria wasn't going to die, but I was not completely sure that all of the others were going to perish.
In the interviews they did say that they were going for a And The There Were None vibe and I definitely felt that.
