www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/space-1999-volume-01-2320www.bigfinish.com/news/v/space-1999-returns-with-mark-bonnar-at-the-helmThe Moon has been sucked through a wormhole in space and has arrived countless miles away from its proper place. The crew of Moonbase Alpha can only guess at the resultant devastation left behind on Earth. They must decide how best they can survive. Some Alphans find it difficult to let go of the notion of returning to Earth, others are facing the reality that they must find another home to ensure the survival of the human race. They can't survive on Alpha indefinitely. Dead ahead of them is the planet they call Meta. The planet that apparently transmitted a signal which caused their predicament. But as their Moon drifts ever onward through space, there are other planets offering hope. Feb 2021

Please write the character Helena more like how Barbara Bain portrayed the character. On the first volume the actress was giving us loud and vulgar. Take the cussing out.

shop.gerryanderson.co.uk/products/space-1999-volume-1-box-set-audio-drama-special-editionA special edition of this boxset is available on Gerry Anderson Store , and it is limited to 500 units worldwide. It will come with a special feature exclusive to this version (might be a timed exclusivity as the special feature from the limited edition of Breakaway is now available on purchase). It also comes with a download on Big Finish website so you will be able to listen it on the app on day one if you purchase this edition.

I am sure this will be too. It is a shame Big Finish don’t do similar limited editions like this for Doctor Who, surely it would encourage everyone to buy ASAP to avoid disappointment.

While it took a little bit to get used to I loved the most passionate and earthy take on the character. Bain’s version was always a little too chilly for me and on audio I do think Russell was the one character they probably had to seriously rethink for audio.

The You Tube placeholder says it premieres in 11 hours. That's exciting, but I will be asleep then.

Well am glad I waited and relistened with my concentration intact.I would say the weakest of the stories was Deaths Other Dominion (The Tv EpIsode) though it is still a strong episode I would have to say I enjoyed the two Andrew Smith episodes a lot more.Andrew is a fine writer and I think from his writing he has enjoyed the writing away from the ‘confines” of writing WHO.I totally loved the first story (headphones on in the dark)and the discovery of who sent the Meta signal and their reasons and the possible future ramifications of their meeting.I love the characters and Helena has grown on me a lot now I like the fact she is very much different now from her TV counterpart...this box set is very much a top notch production and a welcome addition to the saga I would say it’s only fault would be that it is ONLY three stories long and that’s a good sign and I look forward to many more hopefully. As usual well directed by Nick Briggs and the soundscaping and incidental music is amazingly good adding to the excitement of the tales and I usually don’t listen with the headphones but this set definitely benefitted from it.Relistenable?-Absolutely.
I would be interested to know why they adapted the TV story that they did and will get on with the extras at some point today. Thoroughly recommend this volume.

One down, two to go. Enjoying it immensely. The pictures in my head are way better than the TV series, but with that as a sort of reference base.
(One minor gripe - having the actors doing accents similar to the originals means I don't get to swoon over Mark Bonnar's Scottish brogue. Shame.)
