I've listened to parts 1 & 2, and am enjoying it so far.
Currently waiting for my MacBook to get it's sh*t together and load VLC so that I can finish off the set.

I'm nearing the end of the third episode now and yeah, I like this series, I really do!
Only five months to go until volume three... =_=

I liked that a lot! I think even more than the first, although now I need to listen to that one again. I liked that they are taking the stories away from our main characters and allowing us to see more of Kaldor. So sad that we won't have more Poul, it was a fun story.

I've been having issues with my Mac recently (iCloud has been causing me issues over the past couple of weeks), so am currently waiting to book an appointment with a local Mac store to get it looked at. I'll give MusicBee a look at in the meantime, thank you.

First story was quite good. Nice little Base under Siege story. Gives some time for both Tula and Liv to shine. And great that Liv is her usual sarcastic self.

The second story is quite different and features two completely different leads. They acknowledge this in the extras. I love the worldbuilding they are doing in these stories, Kaldor really starts to feel alive. This is basically a Detective story with a strong frontier town/ Western vibe. With robots. I had not expected something like that, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Listened to this over the weekend. Not quite as good as the first set IMO - I missed the more intimate personal touches that "The Sentient" and "Love Me Not" had - but it was still very enjoyable. I was a little thrown that, in a 3-part box set of a series that was sold as a Liv vehicle, she was completely absent from one story. Still, I'm intrigued at how "Toos and Poul" (and "Do No Harm") seem to be setting up stories for the next box set. I'm interested to see how that plays out.

Yes, I agree, but non the less I enjoyed the story without Liv quite a bit. So in the end, I did not mind too much. And this although I am the odd one out and not the biggest fan of the Robots of Death I am afraid...

I haven't actually heard the story yet so I may be completely off the mark here, also I haven't read all the posts so sorry if I'm just repeating anything that's already been said, but I think that's probably an issue with the format of a 3 hour box set than anything else. With the 4 discs box sets you could have the main character(s) be absent for one of the stories and no one would mind too much. {Minor Spoilers for War Master 1 and Gallifrey Time War 1 and 3} IIRC in the last Gallifrey set Romana and Narvin were completely absent in the 3rd story, and in the first box set they only had minor roles in stories 2 and 3. And one of the most highly rated War Master stories barely features the Master at all. But with a three hour set, you can't really have the main characters be absent for a 1/3 without people feeling short changed unless it's made explicit that they're only in 2/3. When the series is over and it can be viewed as a whole it won't really be a problem that there's a Liv-lite episode and I think with hindsight it could be appreciated more, but I'm still going to go into the story now a little disappointed. This isn't to say that I hate the 3 hour format, a few of the earlier UNIT box sets possibly could've worked better if they were cut to 3 hours instead of 4. I think the 4 hour box sets work better for experimentation because if someone doesn't like it they won't feel too bad because there's still 3 more hours of the stuff they were expecting (and getting exactly what you were expecting in a story isn't really that great either so it's nice to have some variety, my main issue is just the format). It really depends on the stories. I'm also not trying to put down this box set for the writers trying something new, especially because I haven't actually heard the story yet. I just think it could've been made clearer what customers were getting into before making a purchase, and if they absolutely had to keep it vague then it would've worked better as a 4 hour box set imo, but I don't think that's a choice of the writers and it's decided by what sells so I don't begrudge the writers anything. I don't want this to seem overly negative, like I said this issue won't really matter when the series is viewed as a whole, it's just an annoyance in the moment because I don't really care about the Toos and Poul (the characters) because I have only seen Robots of Death once and barely remember anything about it.

Finished the Robots. I loved the courtroom drama. That was a great story that kept you guessing. I think it was done very well. However, I know Liv is very capable, but that she is able to learn everything required to be a lawyer in just an evening course... not really buying that. This either speaks of a VERY crappy justice system that should already have collapsed and would have a million other problems or at the superhuman powers of Liv. Both a tough sale bordering on unbelievable for me. Otherwise, of course lots of scenes where Liv can show off. And in the end having Liv swear a bada$$ oath- things are about to get even more interesting.

I agree with the word building comments above, the world building is coming along very nicely. Very nicely indeed. Re “there’s an episode without Liv”. Well, yes. But when it’s Toos and Poul, I find it very hard to grumble about that. Presumably they’ll meet Liv in one of the next box sets. It’s lovely to hear the actors too. Really special. On Liv the Instant Legal Expert. I think if she watches the legal drama holo-vids, I can imagine her being able to pull it off. Imagine if you’d watched all of Law and Order, Special Victims and Criminal Intent? I reckon you could nail a courtroom scene!

Didn’t they kind of make it clear that she really didn’t know everything needed to be a lawyer and that her legal knowledge was incredibly basic? She pretty much got by on luck and her investigative ability allowing her to actually present evidence. Which is more a testament to her time with the Doctor than anything.

That would fit. The Doctor does tend to rub off on the companions that way! Time for a second listen, I reckon! After I finish my second listen of part 2. Most BF releases are worth a second listen, I’m pleased to say.
