I thought I'd collate all the recently announced info regarding The Walking Dead for anyone who might be interested. To begin with, the original Season 10 finale will air at 9pm on October 4th in the US. While they don't know when they'll be able to make Season 11, they have also announced that a further 6 episodes will be produced that will serve as episodes 17-22 of Season 10, to hopefully be aired in early 2021. World Beyond has finally been given a premiere date/time - and it's immediately after the Season 10 "finale" of the parent show, at 10pm. They will continue to broadcast the rest of the season over the following 9 weeks. And, on October 11th at 9pm, Fear the Walking Dead will starting airing the first half Season 6. As far as I can tell, all eight episodes of the first half of the season will be ready to go, so it'll end up finishing a week before World Beyond. So, not the 42 weeks of Walking Dead we were all expecting 2020 would be, but I think this is still a pretty decent line-up for the end of the year

I was saying to a friend last night, I’m really puzzled by AMC’s choice to have Fear and WB airing at the same time. With any resumption of productions in America a giant question mark until further notice, I just can’t wrap my head around why they wouldn’t ‘bank’ one or the other till winter 2021 so they’d at least have new content through March or April.
The six additional TWD episodes thing really blindsided me too. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pleased, I’m just confused. If they were unable to finish episode 1016 back in the spring and it’s not showing on TV till April, when the heck did they (or when the heck are they going to) film these additional episodes?!

Is it? What I saw said it was airing in October before the two spin-offs started. As for the additional episodes, my assumption is that they're using this "mini-season" (as it were) to tide them over until they can film Season 11 proper. That way they can get some more content out sooner without there being an extremely long wait for Season 11. As for why they're not saving one of the other shows for later, I'm not sure. It might be because the network did promise a lot of content this year and they're worried people will be disappointed if they don't get to see as much of it as possible? Who knows.

No sorry, you're right - my brain got fuddled. What I was trying to say was that I didn't understand how it was that episode 1016 was not ready to air back in April, but somehow they can have six new episodes ready sometime early 2021 despite production being shut down pretty much everywhere since March. I assume early 2021 for the six episodes anyway, because they announced that Season 11 will be 'delayed to 2021,' which I took to mean that it will probably start up in the show's usual October start date (except 2021 instead of 2020, because of the delay).
