I know it's a necessity of banking releases but it's hard to get excited about something that will be out when the next US election is months away, much less the one later this year. Who knows what the state of everything will be by then!

RIP Individual Covers It looks like these are all six-parters - certainly "Storm of the Sea Devils" is - so technically they all still have individual covers given they're all one story...

I agree 100%.
I get that they are recording as many titles with Tom as they can while he is still with us so that we have plenty of adventures with him for years to come... without having stories to announce after he has already passed away.
But announcing a release 4 years in advance is a bit much.
Why don't they announce their releases for the 60th Anniversary while they are at it. That is only 3 years away.
Last year at Big Finish Day they announced Nerys Hughes as a companion for Tom. She is still 2 years away.
This is a trend that needs to stop.

I think @davygallagher raises a good point where it’s hard to get excited for something so long away, especially with understandably such limited information. Still, Harry is my favourite companion, so I welcome more adventures from him. I don’t have a view on Christopher Baylor’s take on Harry, as I don’t think we heard him in the Return of the Cyberman trailer.
I have always thought that Season 12 didn’t mark the end of Harry’s adventures. I like to think that the Doctor and Sarah came back for him a little later into their tenure and they had a whole series of adventures. Be interesting to hear his dynamic with a whole new companion, though, and how the Doctor treats him in comparison, given they have a history but the Doctor hasn’t always been kind to poor Harry!
Six part stories are welcome, but I think the price may sting a little, especially as the sets for Doctors Five, Six & Seven will be in full swing by then and I’m sure competitively priced in comparison to the current monthly range prices. It makes sense when you look at it on a running length basis against the other box sets, but you do feel a little shortchanged when it’s only the one story. Psychological pricing and all that.

Well Christopher Naylor had a script for a 4DA which had Series 16 Episode 3
And They said in the Big Finish podcast they recorded Tom's segments for The 60th Anniversary

OK I know it's a long way off (in terms of BF's usually packed release schedule if nothing else - how many other treats between here and there?!) but this is exciting news despite that.
Six parters, the Sea Devils and Harry Sullivan. What more could we ask for?
Well, how about a new Companion with a most interesting CV... Like Jo before her, Naiomi's also a member of UNIT - but she's top of her class and a karate expert! Question is, why on Earth is Naiomi Cross working as a UNIT secretary when she sounds like a field agent? Perhaps because of the time she's from, the 70s? I assume she's from the 70s as it says she's 'always been on the outskirts of the Doctor's adventures'. (I won't mention UNIT dating if you don't, they were broadcast in the 70s )
Anyone else getting a 'Doctor Who' meets 'The Avengers' vibe with the mix of modern martial-arts young woman and traditional public school hero type? Plus of course the Doctor! I like the sound of that very much.
EDIT: We don't know they're six-parters, any of them. Just that only one story has been announced yet for Vol 1 and that each volume has six episodes. Could be 2+2+2 or 2+4 - or 6. Sorry folks - but I saw "Sea Devils" and went into overdrive a bit like a Pertwee-era fan should do on seeing that name...

Okay, now this looks really exciting!
Shame it’s four years away. Guess it’s just one more reason in the very long list of reasons to make sure this planet makes it until then.

Hmm I am not convinced these will all be 6-parters.
If they are I will feel a lot happier, but I don’t see any mention of six parters in the announcement.
How I am reading this is the return of the two part stories and the loss of individual covers in the name of standardisation.
I should be excited by the announcement of more Fourth Doctor adventures coming in the future with a returning and a new companion as well, but at the moment I just find this announcement annoying.

Definitely three boxsets for pre-ordering...in about 2023. Even so, the return of Harry Sullivan, another new companion..and the Sea Devils. What's not to love?
Also the news is right about on schedule. It was two years ago we had the announcement for Series 9 and 10, roughly a year ago the announcement for Series 11 and 12..and this year Series 13.
But only Series 13.
Which leaves me wondering (Oh alright. For 'wondering' read 'speculating like mad'). Considering the significance of four years time for both Tom (barring a cruel twist of fate he'll turn 90 in January) and the Fourth Doctor, considering Series 13 is spread over six months (March, June and September), is it beyond the realm of possibility that there might..just might..be a fourth boxset waiting in the wings? For release in...oh, I don't know...December?
After all, if Big Finish can acknowledge the Master's fiftieth...🤔

Sigh, you're right. There is no mention of story length, it was just me getting carried away and deducing what I wanted to be true from insufficient data. Apologies all.
Still, we could hope for a Tom six-parter couldn't we, they've done a couple in the PHP range.

It's good to know we will still be getting new Fourth Doctor adventures in 2024, surely?

2024 !! God Lord, putting this out there now is ridiculous, man will back walking on the moon by then, or for the first time depending on your view.

2024 !! God Lord, putting this out there now is ridiculous. Think of it less as an announcement, and more as a way of dealing with all the people who trawl the internet for actors' credits to identify forthcoming audios, or who trawl the website for Christopher Eccleston references, or who look at photos on studio walls in social media posts and assume that all those actors are in new stories. People are going to find out that people have recorded 4th Doctor stories well in advance of their release, at least this way BF have some control over the flow of news.
Come to think of it, we know that bits of the 60th Anniversary story have already been recorded. I hope David Richardson is getting some ideas together for the 70th.

I will also say as someone who still buys some Big Finish on CD, I’m happy to lock in shipping costs four years out.
