Being that there is a massive boom in regards to Doctor Who spin offs happening outside of BBC and Big Finish, has anyone heard anything about new spin off audio dramas coming from other companies?

The title alone makes this sound like kiddie fare. Or possibly the lost prequel to Brum focusing on his family.

The title alone makes this sound like kiddie fare. Or possibly the lost prequel to Brum focusing on his family. I was thinking more cynically. Older 40 something fans with a young family trying to induct them into their own childhood memories. A bit self indulgent, perhaps. Play with these Character Options figures. That's the Doctor. The reason that it prompts such thoughts is that really, those who would remember Bessie as childhood viewers are becoming grandparents now. It's like myself being obliged to like 1930's radio programmes as child. Which fortunately I wasn't....

Wasn’t there a Brian Blessed Omega audio planned?
This was a stretch goal to Cutaway Comics' Kickstarter for the Omega/Minyans comic, it's going to adapt the comic to audio.
I think that comics, not audio, is currently the medium of choice for people producing licenced DW spinoffs, as somebody (Telos?) is doing more Devil's End comics as well.

Bill Baggs? Didn't he make that awful Zygon spin-off thing?

Bill Baggs? Didn't he make that awful Zygon spin-off thing? Amongst quite a lot of other things
(Also, he did at one stage have a genuine DW project, when he was working for BBC South, but the return of the tv series under RTD downgraded it from a mini-adventure starring Alan Cumming, to just a mini documentary with Sylvester McCoy visiting old filming locations. www.doctorwhonews.net/2004/04/bbc-south-today_29.html)
What's interesting is that there's no obvious connection between this new Brigadier audio and the Lethbridge-Stewart novels/audiobooks

Bill Baggs? Didn't he make that awful Zygon spin-off thing? [The Good] For what it's worth, I like the BBV Zygon movie. It was an end of the line 'wilderness years' amateur video (2008 - yes, the new series had started) that was intended for a possible gradually aging type of fan of the original show. I like experiencing adult minded Doctor Who material, thank goodness for the monthly BF Torchwood range. The original Zygon DVD was commercially pressed and I wouldn't ever hesitate endorsing that Bill Baggs is a talented creator. [The Bad] Bill Baggs (for the love of ALL that is good) needs to *spend* some money on hiring some established DW performers for his new projects! Casting Hazel Burrows (who?!) as a Caroline John replacement, homemade burnt discs and him only reading these audiobooks isn't ever going to do it for me. Tough Sell for BBV Comparison: [30 minute audiobooks] £5.99 - The Brigadier: Memories of Tomorrow read by Bill Baggs. Or £2.99 - BF Short Trips read by past performers of the televised show or talented DW impersonators and has sound effects. Also - phone app accessibility option included. [DVDs of past footage] £14.99 - Jon Pertwee: Uncut! on an ink burnt DVD-R from BBV. Or £11.50 - The Doctors: Jon Pertwee Years - Behind the Scenes Vol 1 (first of an additional series of 13 titles) on 2 region free glass mastered DVDs, which is a Reeltime Pictures product. 315 minutes of footage!

Established Doctor Who performers doesn't necessarily mean the big hitters we tend to think of either. I'd be very happy to sit and listen through a project starring -- to pick a name out of a stovepipe hat -- Chris Walker-Thompson, for instance. Better known these days for unofficially playing the Second Doctor. We've some really effective imitators and character actors floating about in space and time these days. There's definitely wriggle room to explore the same narrative space (if not necessarily on the same budget). The tough part with these sorts of things is determining that dreaded thing called "brand". Something people can snap their fingers at and go: "Oh, they do [X]". Big Finish conjures up images of classic Doctors and new stories, Candy Jar of old soldiers and vast Intelligences, Reeltime of documentaries and unexpected docudramas, Cutaway Comics of Doctor Who Weekly's Doctorless backup comics, and so on. Once that's cracked, the rest should follow from there.

The change from the days of having Jon Pertwee, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Nicholas Courtney, Caroline John, Elisabeth Sladen, Sarah Sutton, Nicola Bryant, Sophie Aldred, et al. as BBV performers down to Bill Baggs (the director) being mainly the company's only actor and having an unknown play Liz Shaw (when the previous 4 P.R.O.B.E. moves had Caroline) is too drastic of a come down for little old me to want to follow Bill's new output. I do have an admiration for Bill Baggs' past works during the time period when we didn't know if us fans would ever see Doctor Who brought back to television again.
