You're probably right, but I'm just put in mind of the Jekyll and Hyde situation. Somehow I’d feel they’d be more hell to pay if the Ninth Doctor Adventures was delayed compared to Jekyll and Hyde. Agreed. Big Finish have announced four boxsets with one of the most sought-after characters in Doctor Who and taken pre-orders. If this falls through or gets stuck in the Nick Briggs development hell of Jekyll and Hyde, that will be a massive blow to the company’s credibility.

Almost doesn’t bear thinking about. Like I said though, they’re probably just in the final stages of pre production.

Just read a Reddit comment of a person who listened to the Nicholas Briggs interview with The Doctor Is In podcast (which was supposedly recorded only a few weeks ago) and in it, Briggs seemed to suggest that they haven't started recording with Eccleston yet Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/gallifrey/comments/jyuqei/big_finish_podcast_notesmisc_doctor_who_news/ Wouldn't read to much into that he's probably been evasive there is no way they'd announce something this momentous before some recording took place. Regards mark687 It was announced before recording but there’s really nothing to be concerned about.

I was actually going to Post in this Thread Tomorrow that its hard to believe that this time next year there'd be at least 9 new stories starring CE so I'm not too worried. Regards mark687

I am sure that once the actual recording starts there will be plenty of news and announcements...I would imagine that the interest in this series will be nearly as high as that of the TV series, so I hope Big Finish feed that interest.

I'd be surprised if nothing had been recorded yet. We're only six months away from the first set and we're meant to be getting another one every three months after that, it doesn't seem like a huge window.

I'd be surprised if nothing had been recorded yet. According to the new podcast, the 10/River series was commissioned, scripted, recorded and released in pretty much no time at all, so there's no specific necessity for them to have made a start on recording the 9th Doctor adventures (particularly if, as with Colin Baker's earliest audios, there's a greater urge to put polish on the material).

Lockdown almost certainly accelerated the process behind the 9DAs, and we certainly wouldn't have gotten four sets announced in one go without it. The fact that we did get such a thing, with a very short gap between each volume, suggests that they knew at least roughly when they'd be recording these when the announcement was made. And I would presume that the quality of the scripts of the Ten/River series, and indeed all the other unexpected Ten stories we are getting this year and next, has not been compromised by the faster-than-usual turnaround. They're high-profile releases with big name actors, they'll want to make sure there's as much polish on them as possible. Compare the 9DAs with Dalek Universe, which we know was definitely recorded entirely in lockdown and has a similar release schedule.

Theory inbound: I think the reveal date for Volume 1 will be March 26th.

It might just be a case of they’re still finalising the scripts. They have four volumes planned after all. Yeah, we learned last week from David Richardson in the Chicago TARDIS panel that 10 scripts are ready and recording dates are set for before the end of the year (I'm assuming not everything will be recorded in those first sessions, though). The week before they were pending final approval, so the gears are definitely turning, and the last couple of scripts are probably being finalised. There's no need to worry just yet.

I don't think DR specified "before the end of the year" - I think he said "in a few weeks", which could cover early 2021.

The anniversary of Rose! I wouldn't be surprised if that day was a "full cast / trailer / sale on previous Nine audios" day... I’m now picturing them hyping up the release of Volume One by releasing their own version of the original trailer for Series One. I still think it’s probably one of the best trailers Doctor Who has ever produced.

Random thought at 5:30am this morning, imagine a special-event release of "9/10", much like the recent "4/10".. Getting way way ahead of myself- but that's awesome to think about IMHO
