It'll be interesting to see how these sets fit into the timeline. I've got a feeling that at some point Big Finish might exploit the final minutes of "Rose" and tell some adventures set between The Doctor departing and then returning for Rose. Would be interesting if he had loads of adventures during that blip of time but it just didn't feel right without a companion and came back for her.

Charlie Higson already did that in the book The Beast of Babylon.

anchor.fm/differentminds/episodes/A-conversation-with-Christopher-Eccleston-eous6pHey guys! New to the forum. Just wanted to share this interview. A good listen but nothing much about Big Finish until the end. Chris seems very grateful for the work. Apparently it’s been a tough year for him career-wise and he has found solace in recording the audios as it gives him something to do. He’s due to record three days next week and another three the week after, which would cover the second and third sets of 9DAs. Interestingly, he states that he has other recording dates scheduled throughout the year. This would be an odd way of describing the three measly days required to record the final volume in his contract. This makes me believe that he has already extended his deal with them. I reckon the Ninth Doctor is here to stay and we’re about to hear a lot from Chris in the next few years.

I reckon the Ninth Doctor is here to stay and we’re about to hear a lot from Chris in the next few years. Very tantalizing. I hope he has indeed agreed to do more with Big Finish. I'm also really glad he's enjoying the work and that it's keeping him busy during a rough time. I imagine a lot of actors are sitting around twiddling their thumbs right now. We've also gotten a big uptick in David Tennant's appearances at Big Finish, no doubt due in part to him having free time to record during the pandemic.
Hopefully, we'll hear Eccelston pop up in more Big Finish beyond the four sets he's agreed to do. I'm keen for him to appear in some other ranges if he's interested, perhaps a near run in with River is in order or a multi Doctor story is in the works. I could also see him being interested in some of the other things Big Finish does such as their classics range and the originals range, which would allow him to apply his skills to different kinds of roles.

I always assumed him signing up was an ongoing thing longer than what has already been announced. Either way I will be a 1st day pre-orderer (especially if it's vinyl).

Honestly i wonder if the other recording dates are his segments for The 60th Anniversary Special or Volume 5 of 9DAs? could also be for Diary of River Song Series 9

It could be the case that Volume 4 isn't able to be recorded in one block, as the first three sets apparently are. I am optimistic we will get more from Chris after these sets but better not to jump to conclusions.

Anyone mind if I put this thread in the Index as the 9th Doctor General Discussion thread?

Could be that the last set includes Rose and they have to record a little differently to accommodate Piper's schedule. Hard to say, but I count it good news all around that there are future recordings on the horizon.
