I also think Daleks are a no-no unless it's tangental - Dalek tech, rumours of a survivor etc - as his arc against the Daleks in the TV show is quite well defined and you can't alter that too much without those eps losing power. Strangely enough, I'd actually go along with that... but I'm sure Nick could find an inventive way to squeeze one or two in somewhere!

Please God, NO!! If I never hear Iris again it will be too soon. I'm the biggest Iris fan going but no - not with Eccleston. No Scorchies either, and I love them. Both are too...gimmicky for Eccleston's Doc, at least initially. His series was relatively grounded. I can imagine Matt meeting Scorchies though! And Iris for that matter. There's a whimsy there that isn't in Eccleston. I also think Daleks are a no-no unless it's tangental - Dalek tech, rumours of a survivor etc - as his arc against the Daleks in the TV show is quite well defined and you can't alter that too much without those eps losing power. I think it could be a really interesting contrast to have the grounded and more serious 9 encounter some more whimsical BF characters🤔 Could be a unique dynamic!

I think it absolutely could be, down the road. But to subvert the expectations, you need to establish a status quo first. There's too much to explore in the character himself, that incarnation has been through so much by the time we meet him, than simply seeing who we can team him up against for novelties.

I really hope not. 9 encountering the Daleks for the first time is one of the greatest moments in all of Who. I really don’t want anything that undercuts it. The tangents route is fine but 9 and a Dalek face to face, no thank you.

Another tweetalong incoming! What Emily did in those darkest days for people really was something special. She deserves a really special something from all of fandom for the treats she managed to pull off in some of the most horrible times.

Eccleston's book goes into more about his own mental health at the time. It was when his anorexia was at it's worst and he was having some massively dark times. Add to that a working environment that he felt encouraged bullying from the top, and Barrowman thinking exposing himself was "banter" (something the Torchwood guys have said he did on their set too) and you can see why he was so reluctant to return to the show for so long, bringing him back into that mindset. Barrowman was probably the least of his issues with the set but it's one Chris has cited as being unprofessional and making crew who weren't the stars with clout to complain very uncomfortable. His book seems to have helped him exorcise a lot of demons. He sought help for his (lack of) weight issues and mental health. Seeing on the convention circuit how happy his work made people also seems to have reinforced a fresh start with the show. He now talks about it in interviews rather than a few words and moving on. Always interesting to listen to Eve Myles talking about sitting in make up, turning her head, then getting smacked by Barrowman's dong in the face 😱 lol Can I get a link to this? I know he has a reputation but I've missed this part of the story.

You know what I think is pretty great? That after all the moaning we all did (even if it was moaning about the moaners) over the vinyl/no CD thing....that this has brought us all together in excitement again.
At the end of the day, like BF...we love stories.

Emily Cook should get her own Doctor Who opening title sequence because what she is doing is making her a real life version of the Doctor!😃

Started a binge of series 1 this evening - just about to finish Dalek.
I'm thinking we're not going to hear any more news about this for quite a while considering the first set comes out in May. If I were a betting man, I'd say Eccleston's definitely going to appear in Out of Time if only just to keep us quiet hehe.

I wonder whether there's any scope for BF to subcontract CD and vinyl pressing in the southern hemisphere?
Times that by 4.. thats approx AUST $964 !. See how "cheap" us non UK people have always had it LOLZ..
OUCH !
OOPS! I did my sums wrong.. All up the cost is AUST $351 for the whole lot of 4 vinyls. So that works out to AUST $30 per vinyl. I just pre ordered the lot. Now to SMS my wife to let her know LOL

What a strange world to be living in where Eccleston is doing 12 new Doctor Who stories but Capaldi hasn't done any. As a card-carrying fan I'd have thought he'd have been much easier to persuade. I believe he is still not legally allowed to, amongst other things.

Fair play to Jason, his skills of persuasion must be superior to Moffat's if he succeeded in 2020 where Moffatt failed in 2013 I'd say time was probably a factor, too. As the quote goes: "Time heals all wounds."

BF has the license to use him I think they are just waiting on his side of things.

This makes me ridiculously happy. He's a fabulous actor and a fabulous Doctor. I really hope he enjoyed the experience with Big Finish. I am so looking forward to hearing him in the role again.

All I can say is THANK YOU, Chris Eccleston and Big Finish! You've obviously made a LOT of people VERY happy (myself included).
