Just have to put in agreement with everyone. This audio was perfectly spot on. I didn't think I wanted or needed more Yvonne before ... Now I am hoping they find a way to include her more. I also like that we are tying in some actual continuity. Sometimes it seems the audios shy away from these quick cameo or continuity references. Meanwhile I love them. I have always wondered what torchwood was doing when some of the major occurrences took place over in its parent program.

I liked this one more than I expected I would. But, shouldn't the invisible elevator not be invisible yet? Jack implied that the TARDIS being there was what made it invisible, and this episode is set before Boom Town. I wonder what happened to Barry Jackson. It seems that Yvonne wanted him to wait around until the Doctor shows up, but obviously he isn't mayor anymore by Boom Town. Maybe the Slitheen killed him, but then why wouldn't she just steal his skin. Didn't they say that Barry was fat? Yeah, I always thought the invisible lift was from after Boom Town. I am doubtful it would date back to the Unquiet Dead. Seems unlikely he even landed on the same spot.

Maybe its a timey wimey thing. The rift and the TARDIS interacting in Boom Town made that spot invisible both forwards and backwards in time. A retroactive effect on that spot? Maybe that's what encouraged the leaders of Torchwood Three to base the Hub there, literally on the doorstep of an unusual phenomena.

I would have thought that Torchwood Three would base its hub there mainly because of rift activity, regardless of other unusual phenomena. Jack was the one who knew that that Doctor had landed there and, I suspect, is the one who discovered that particular phenomenon. I have huge doubts as to whether it was known prior to that. We're all just trying to rationalize away a continuity error.

Just pointing out the obvious.

BTW, did anyone spot the cameo that I think was mentioned elsewhere here? I forgot to keep an ear out for it and haven't got to give this the second listen that I'd really like to yet.

Yes they mention Cooper and Davidson in the background Eve Myles definitely has a short line in the background, can't be sure if Tom Price (who plays Andy Davidson and has done other roles for Big Finish) was there as well. There's some speculation he might show up as a surprise guest star in an upcoming story.

I knew Gwen had a line in the background, but I couldn't hear her well enough to tell if it was actually Eve Myles.

I think this was probably for me the strongest of the so far released Torchwood audio from Big Finish. I love the darker edgey almost sinister side of the Tracy Oberman character, and, I must admit although I was flagging a quarter of the way in, Lidster as written what for me is a slow burn, the last quarter of this was bang on the money, it painted more pictures in my head and started to exapnd the possibilities, leaving the obvious, what further interesting future story lines are avalible to the writers, and inturn to us. My one slight critisim of the entire Torchwood releases so far, and I stress slight is that, for me they are starting to hit the mark, but they still have not got quite the BANG of say the Who Main Range, or indeed, say the first couple of Avengers box sets or Counter Measures which seemed to take the orginality of the TV (where appliccable)concept and really smack you in the head with the translation to audio. In saying that, much enjoyed and definite listen again for myself. Agreed. Each release has been stronger than the one before it. I'd love to hear Tracy Oberman back for more Yvonne/Torchwood madness.

A simple mission turns into a bad night out going through Cardiff's night life. #DescribeABFPlotBadly

Or "Margaret Blaine" may have maneuvered herself into position by killing Barry Jackson. Either way, the death of so many potential mayors certainly would have made her sudden rise to power much easier. We may get more information in a future episode of Torchwood.

As was the case here, Torchwood works a lot better when it has its tongue slightly in its cheek rather than taking itself too seriously.

I enjoyed this one a lot. Tracy-Ann is obviously having a ball. Loved her demanding the masseuse pick up the Pinot before evacuating for the fire drill. It's almost Gavin And Stacey like in using the sheer Welshness of the residents of Cardiff for humour. I mean...even the news sounded about having an all you can eat Chinese buffet When the bartender thinks Yvonne is a drag queen....I burst out laughing. As I did when Barry's call back to women never using the lavvy themselves happens. It's a bit like After Hours or Into Te Night - seminal 80s movies - where a competent person gets put through the ringer in a series of misadventures over one night. It's a damn shame we know Yvonne's fate because I'd be all for her in a more contemporary TW story or series. When she casually reveals she's known about The Committee all along..man. Shivers. The most badass character in the show and she's long dead!
