Mars is the next giant leap for mankind. Starr Base is the first small step. A practice Mars base has been set up in a quarry in Neath, just off the A474. Its aim is to see if humanity can survive on the red planet.
The problem is that the crew are dying. The survivors are terrified, paranoid, and wondering if something alien has got inside Starr Base. Sgt Andy Davidson has come to find out what’s gone wrong.

If the idea of any combination of 2001/Bio-Dome meets Poirot/Clouseau appeals this is one for you.

(I was going to be buying anyway as part of "Sgt. Andy Week" but that's an appealing summary for sure.)

I'm currently about halfway through it at the moment, and am certainly enjoying it so far!

Finished it. I liked it. It used familiar Sci-Fi elements and re-mixed them, and even added a few twists. It was nothing new or groundbreaking and reminded me a lot of Aquitaine, which, to be honest, is better and much more atmospheric. But still, this is well acted and we get some of the typical Andy quirks and humour. Plus a few running jokes about Andy's role in Torchwood.

I've been finding the TW main range a bit blah & tired for awhile. But this one was great. I didn't expect the twists. so pleasantly surprised.

I've not listened, but I do note how similar the setup is to Lucifer Season 5 episode 2 which also has a mars base really on earth for training. This one's outside LA but the story does send in the show's detective to investigate! I guess there's only so many ideas in the world!

That was fantastic. I really hope there is life for the monthly range past March of next year.

Just finished listening. This was a standout episode. I just tweeted about my enjoyment of the episode and couldn't resist including the phrase "You could say it was really Neath." and got an "Ouch" reply from James Goss.

That was fun! Definitely made me google what Neath is like!
Another good entry in the main range.
