Nah, start with New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield Volume 3. That is the start of Benny and the Warner Doctor. I am not a big fan of Volume 1 and 2.
Just not my cup of tea and nearly put me off Sylvester.
But starting from Volume 3 till the latest one, among my favorite BF stuff of late.
More mature, very clever, no "Dalek go boom!" but thoughtful, thought provoking stories, with great characters and a wonderful interplay between Benny and the Doctor. They act like an old married couple and there is even a story, Dead and Breakfast, where they pretend to be an old married couple. Simply wonderful.
Ooo I like the sound of that! What’s the Warner Doctor like? Very grumpy, dry, cynical, sarcastic... he is also supposed to be the last of the Time Lords, so is also carrying that burden (until another Time Lord shows up.... basically mimicking the story we got on TV, but in a more mature and less over the top way).
We get some really funny awesome scenes (many of them the above mentioned embarrassing scenes which the Doctor tries to hide/ explain away, but Benny just does not buy it), but we also explore the character and a universe that is about to die.... so you get an intense contrast between deeply moving scenes where you cry of sadness and funny scenes where you cry of laughing. Basically, you will cry. A lot. I won't spoil anything, because you need to listen and it will be so awesome when you experience it unspoiled and just get hit by all the ridiculous surprises and scenes.
Plus, you can just go into this without any previous knowledge. You only need to know that Benny is a former companion of 7 who gets kidnapped by the Warner Doctor who is from another universe (where he is the last of the Time Lords after the Time War). And that other universe is dying, because of the fallout of the Time War.

The Doctor temporarily loosing the ability to speak and having to mime and or communicate via sign language.
The Doctor post regeneration not having amnesia but only forgetting that they have the ability to regenerate and being freaked out that their body has changed.
12 attempting to dye his hair brown to impress Clara and being either really embarrassed afterwards or milking it for all it’s worth.
K9 trying to become a real dog.
A retelling of Baba Yaga, the cannibalistic witch with a walking sentient house with giant chicken legs.

A story that takes full advantage of the Doctor’s ability to speak to animals where the only beings around are for the story are earth animals that the Doctor must help in some way.
The Doctor giving a companion a gift, but being an alien has no idea what sort of thing to give a human and ends up giving them something totally bizarre and seemingly incomprehensible.
A story that revisits the plot point from Tooth and Claw that all members of the royal family are werewolves.
A Christmas episode In Claymation (caused by some bizarre scientific phenomena that has an elaborate technobabble explanation) that starts out very light hearted and progressively becomes more dark and weird.

Yes I have it’s so cute! They should hire the puppeteer from those to do a whole official DW puppet episode!

A story where the Doctor cleans their room in the TARDIS, which is basically like a messy teenagers room only with weirder stuff everywhere. Also like the TARDIS its self, the Doctor’s bed room is bigger on the inside and they get lost and their companions have to help them find their way out.
The Doctor having a special intimate telepathic connection with a companion and it being treated as though it were physical, with them both being flustered afterwards from sharing their thoughts with each other and remarking on the beauty of each other’s minds.
The Doctor growing wings and flying around for an entire adventure.
A follow up to Mummy on the Orient Express where we find out more about Gus.
The Doctor loosing the TARDIS for an extended period while in a big city, being mistaken for a homeless person, and taken to stay in a shelter.
The Doctor taking on a temporary alternative form or variation to their current one and torn on weather or they prefer their new one or want to return back to normal.
A story involving a golem.
The Doctor getting picked for something they are extremely embarrassed by but ends up enjoying themselves instead.
The Doctor going full on mad scientist.
A companion who starts out alien and becomes human or a human companions who becomes alien.

A story set in Mexico to do with the Day of the Dead with the Doctor themselves celebrating and honoring the many people they have lost in the past along with everyone else. Doctor Who Magazine did a comic back in the Eighth Doctor years with the Day of the Dead and Frida Kahlo, as part of the arc that was collected in Oblivion.Frida Kahlo would honestly make a really great celebrity historical. You could get weird with visuals that reflect Khalo's art.
