Chatting away with a few people based on "which 8th Doctor series do you prefer?" . The answers were surprisingly evenly spread.
Main/Monthly Range? Solo series? "Event" boxsets?

Charley's second "season" from 2002 was very good as well, the rest of the 8/Charley era was a bit more variable in quality.

I'm going for the Monthly Adventures, and have soft spots for some of the less loved ones:
Minuet in Hell Sword of Orion The Time of the Daleks
Plus add-in Chimes of Midnight, Stones of Venice, The Silver Turk, Witch from the Well..

If I'm honest i am a little tired over the box sets & like to go back to the traditional solo 4 parters.

I honestly think that 8 is much better suited to the one hour format and I think they have it perfect right know in that regard with Stranded.

Monthly Adventures. I just prefer the more happy-go-lucky Eight, and Charley was a great companion. I love the extra time giving things breathing room, and just how weird and ethereal the stories could get.
Then the 8DAs. They were a little less experimental, but Eight and Lucie had great chemistry, they did some really interesting structural stuff, and they were consistently entertaining.
The Event stuff is good, but very much a mixed bag, often weighed down by the weight of the 16 episode format. I've said this before, but I'd really prefer they pull it back to single box-set arcs.

I Think you summed it up perfectly
they have to get away from the 16th episode format its just so tedious that to get the full story you have to buy 4 boxsets and wait for each year
something like Further Adventures of Lucie Miller is perfect

Honestly it really just comes down to what mood I'm in.
Sometimes I'm in the mood for 2 hour 'movies.' Sometimes I'm in the mood for 1 hour (mostly) standalone adventures. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a grand sweeping epic.
Totally depends on my frame of mind when I sit down to listen, I don't think I could definitively pick one as my all-time 'it must always be this way' favourite.

The Lucie Miller 8DAs first, boxsets second, variable but often strong Monthlies last.

I am very partial to the box sets. Dark Eyes was what made me a fan of Big Finish. I still rate it among my top 10 favorite audios. Never really liked Lucie much, and as good as Charley is, Molly and especially Liv I like more. I also enjoy the darker and grumpier 8 much more. I am however not really sold on the Time War series. That is pretty much hit and miss with me.

Tough call, they all have positives, though I will say I am growing disinterested in the multi boxset epic story format that is being used. For the most part I though it worked well for Doom Coalition and Ravenous. The Time War stuff has also been very well done. Dark Eyes fell apart after the first set and I was frankly bored midway through Stranded 1. I think it is time to give it a rest and return to unlinked stories for a while.
As for the monthly and the solo run - I didn't like any of the companions, so that colours my opinion - the stories for the most part were good, but the companions keep them from being favourites of mine.

Depends on what I'm looking for when listening to one of his adventures. I love the Monthly Range for its experimental nature with episodes such as Natural History of Fear, Time Works or Scherzo. The Lucie Miller era is enjoyable for its imitation of NuWho's style most of the time, the exception being series 4 which is probably my favorite Eighth Doctor series ever, with Doom Coalition. I really love the box sets because they're acting as a bridge between Classic Who and NuWho and Eight, Liv and Helen are my favorite TARDIS trio ever. Absent Friends and Wild Animals are some of Eighth's very best episodes. Doom Coalition, Ravenous and Stranded 1 are some of BF's best Doctor Who material in recent years I think, if we're talking about Doctors 4 to 10, along with Sixie's adventures with Flip and Constance.
In short, I love them all so... I don't know ?
Just saw Digi's post, which perfectly sums up my point of view.

I... don't know. I really don't. Both formats have strengths and weaknesses. I think some of 8's best stories have been in the box-sets, for example, but at the same time I feel like the box-sets are undermined by overly-long and overly-convoluted narratives that tend to overstay their welcome pretty quickly.
Ideally I'd like to see 8's adventures transition to something like the 1DAs, but instead of being evenly split between pure historicals and SF stories, they split evenly between arc-adjacent and arc-independent stories. That way we get the best of both worlds.

I think one box set should be able to tell a story without the need for these 16 parters. I do hope Big Finish do more stand alone box sets in the future.

Half the stories in these box sets don't relate to the main arc. Very annoying This is what I always find confusing. The desire for some shorter stories not tied to a big arc... whilst getting annoyed that the boxsets have several stories that don’t relate to the main arc.
