In September 2015, the Big Finish Forum closed for good. Which means this month represents FIVE YEARS of the Divergent Universe forums. TinDogPodcast sent the first post on the 21st of September, making that Divergent Universe Day! So... how shall we celebrate?! (A group listen of some of BF's greatest hits, perhaps?) EDIT: A thread discussing the Fifth Anniversary Listening Extravaganza is here! The schedule is currently as follows: Instead of discussion starting on Sept 21, let's start the listen-thru on the 21st wish discussion beginning on Sunday the 28th. Discussions will begin every Sunday after the scheduled listen date. Here's what we have once again: Sept 21 - The Innocent - Available free here until Sept 20.Sept 28 - The ConspiracyOct 5 - Etheria & Pathfinders: Mummy's Mask: The Half-Dead CityOct 12 - Terror of the SontaransOct 19 - Dark Shadows: Tainted LoveOct 26 - The Enigma of Dorian Gray - Available free here.Nov 2 - The Third Doctor Adventures Vol. 1Nov 9 - Blake's 7: RemnantsNov 16 - The Yes MenNov 23 - Criss-CrossYou don't have to have listened to the story that week. Anyone can chime in on the discussion at any time after the original discussion date. Discussions will be posted in the relevant sections of the forum. Have fun everyone!!!

( A group listen of some of BF's greatest hits, perhaps?) * not sure what we would call the birthday of the forum, though - the admin account was started on Sept 20th while the first regular user - TinDogPodcast - was registered on the 21st.What a good idea! I'd be all for that. The Cyber-group listen went extremely well, I'd love to do something similar like that again. We could kick it off with a two-day party bash on September the Twent --*cough*.

Well, if we want to look at stories that came put around that time... There were two big beginnings in September 2015: Torchwood: The Conspiracy & Criss-Cross! And not long after that, there came the biggest release of that year (the first new series Doctor story) - Only the Monstrous!!
Dorian Vol. 4 also came out around that time and Enigma of Dorian Gray is available for free...
Or we can just pick favourites at random as well!

Ahh yes, the good ol' days when the BBC had people logged in as forumites on the old official BF forum- then word was sent to BF to basically shut it down because of the internet trolls being.. internet trolls, particularly about the actual tv show itself. Much more civilised now I like to think

I was thinking about this yesterday! I can't believe it's been 5 years. I didn't even find the BF forum until the beginning of 2014. Never thought I'd be moderating it. I think a listen along of released that came out in the fall of 2015 is a great idea constonks. Thanks for starting this thread.

Adding to that, do people have a favourite story from the Divergent Universe run with the Eighth Doctor, Charley and C'rizz? I could go for Scherzo, The Unnatural History of Fear or Caerdroia, easy. I've been looking at the stats for Divergent Wordsmiths, as September is trending towards being a good period for visitors, and... I'm amazed. It just seems to be getting bigger and bigger all the time. The little things we discover we can do, the new innovations that come through, the experience gathered along the way, all if it continues to grow. And yet, it would never have gone anywhere initially without *gestures around* here. With all of you. Highest of the high. Humblest of the humblest. Everyone. It all started out as a mild curiosity in a forum and now it's turned out to be quite a great, spirited adventure.

Pretty much. Among the anti-Moffat trolling there was also some very dodgy posts on the old BF forum from one of our old DU buddies [no longer here] that was causing concern in the weeks before the shutdown. So keeping on top of everything being posted was becoming a big issue as nobody at BF could monitor their forum 24/7 and some discussions were getting out of hand.

I remember them saying about the difficulty of 24/7 monitoring, but I didn't know the BBC had a hand in it as well. Am I allowed to ask who the dodgy poster was?

I'm pretty sure I think I know who you are referring to... I think I joined the official Big Finish forum only a few months before it closed down, but even in that short span of time I could see some of the discussions were getting increasingly vitriolic, and that it was a big time commitment for BF to manage, tbh I think it's probably for the best that it closed and we were able to start this forum here instead. Every internet forum I've been a member of has had its internet trolls/sock accounts etc, but thankfully that hasn't been too much of an issue here, thank to the hard working mods and tight community here. Having our own independent forum allows discussions here to be more wide ranging and honest, and it means the BBC/BF can take a hands off approach (though its really cool and very appreciated that some of the BF staff like dorney stop by sometimes to offer their views or clarify things being discussed etc). I'm really more of a lurker than active poster this days (for financial reasons I've cut back alot on my BF purchasing-though as I usually end up thoroughly enjoying the end products anyway I kinda feel like 'That was awesome 5/5' isn't interesting or constructive enough a review to bother posting about) but I thought I'd chime in with my congratulations to the forum and everyone here on making it to five years Can't quite believe it's been that long...

EDIT: (and a lot of answers )
Happy pre-Birthday DU, I've learned so much, listened to so much (and spent so much, shhhh!) on & about BF thanks to you all. Outstanding!

Oh god. Five years? I remember us moving to the Zero Room on FB and then I messaged as many people as I could from the BF Forum while it was still there, and then sending rakes of messages to everyone about here when Tony was putting it together. And then saying no to being a Mod because I'm lazy.

Happy birthday to the DU! Best forum in the known galaxy, I'd say.
It came at the right time for me. I'd banned myself from Gallifrey Base and the BF forum had closed down because of the referred-to dodgy posts (I'm pretty sure I know who the culprit was too). I'm very happy and grateful to be part of this ongoing community.
