I was getting really excited reading this thread... and then somebody said it's not nine hours of Daleks! š

(Side note: For the promotional artwork, those are some nice Space Security Service uniforms. I wonder if the costumes were borrowed from the crew who remounted Mission to the Unknown?)

I've been so busy with my little project there I haven't weighed in on this yet, huh?
In short: I have questions. So many questions.
Like, can we all acknowledge how weird it is that this is specifically set prior to the Time War? It seems... unnecessary, for this premise. Unless the titular "Dalek Universe" is some weird AU spawned by the war itself. After all, Davros and his Dalek hordes are alive and kicking well after the Time War, and will likely continue to rampage across the universe unabated forevermore.
So what's the point of setting this back in time? Well, I have two thoughts.
First and most cynically: this is another Time War range! Right? Right? The Time War ranges are basically just episodic stories tied together by the theme of fighting Daleks and time shenanigans. This range feels like a way to make a 10DTW range without actually "breaking canon" by having the 10th Doctor participate in the Time War.
But the much more exciting thought? Crossover appeal.
We can have David Tenant interact with Derek Jacobi again! With no need for weird memory-altering nonsense! Furthermore, they could really ramp up the melodrama by having the 10th Doctor meet up with friends and family he "lost," and milk those scenes for all they're worth. 10 + Susan? 10 + Romana? 10 + Brax? I am down for all of this.
And on an unrelated, but also exciting note, this range would also be a good opportunity to try out the 10th Doctor with a new companion. And we all really love new companion stories, right? Even if the characters themselves wind up being underwhelming.

It is Doctor Who basically you can do anything parallel universes, skipped time lines, aborted timelines an just separate them in your mind and enjoy them for what they are . And another companion for Tennant would be cool already got one wish for a companion who betrays the Doctor on Big Finish there is room for plenty more. There was a delay surely between Runaway Bride and then Tennant meeting Donna again...but am sure someone will correct me if am wrong. I may not do all of these Wars/Rivers/Victorious in the one go in the same years but further down the line I eventually get to what I missed

Unless the titular "Dalek Universe" is some weird AU spawned by the war itself. After all, Davros and his Dalek hordes are alive and kicking well after the Time War, and will likely continue to rampage across the universe unabated forevermore. The way I see it, Doctor Who has 2 timelines. The pre-War timeline (1963 - 2004 Who, including Big Finish releases) and the post-War timeline (2005 onwards Who, including Big Finish releases set in the Classic era). This accounts for changes in canon between Classic and New Who, and allows changes to be made to canon without breaking it. There's some explicit differences, like pre-War the Time-Lords exist, post-War they're gone, but there's more subtle changes too. Oh. My. God. Yeah, all of this. We've got Tennant in an explicitly pre-Time War universe. So there is certainly Time Lords out there. How will he deal with no longer being the Last of the Time-Lords?

Anyone for a beer? am buyingš¤Ŗš I hope Iām not too late? Iāll have a pale ale, thanks. 'Late' has no meaning in the Whoniverse, it's just another way of saying 'not arrived at that moment yet'. And BF recently told us of a pub which is open all hours, forever...
{Spoiler} but it's in 'Torchwood' so I don't think causality will be buying anyone drinks in that establishment.

Any 'Doctor Who' audio release by Big Finish starring David Tennant seems to be magnetic for me. Pre-ordered 'Dalek Protocol' and the 3 'Dalek Universe' box sets in a CD bundle already. Tim.

More David Tennant at BF is always good for me. I grew up with his era of the show even though my favourite Doctor is Paul McGann.

Yeah, he's not really my favorite Doctor (or even in my top three any more), but as my first... the nostalgia is strong. David Tenant can't even show up in a bit role without me shouting for joy (EG Colditz, Sympathy for the Devil).
