Tapping into more than Jack's endless innuendo. Now I'm doing it. Talk about self-demonstrating.
Anyway, the story looks very interesting, and appears to deal with the Committee arc in a far more direct way than the past three stories or so.

A very good story. A compelling examination of identity, with Neil Redmond a very interesting character who is given a freedom that he ends up resenting. The idea of perfection being unsettling is only touched upon briefly but still leaves a mark. The Committee arc gets a surprising twist. They were invited here, they aren't just invading. I'm so glad we don't have to wait four months for the next season of stories because this just keeps getting more and more interesting.

This was really good. I thing Barrowman seemed much stronger and more at ease with the material in this story than in the first.
Jb, was it really freedom. To me is seemed more like a gilded cage.

That was my point. At first it seems great, but as NJ became more independent and deceptive it got tougher on Neil, able to see NJ travel and have encounters while he was stuck in a lonely castle in rainy Wales doing all the main work (and unaware of the malevolent intentions for it). It was basically someone taking over his life while he was watching helpless, doing the things he wanted to do.

Excellent story, and a great exploration of Steven Cree's character. The narration element of the story is minimal, and doesn't intrude on the story, so kudos to David Llewellyn for that.
...and LOTS of innuendo in the interview. Steven Cree and John Barrowman seem to have a great and very casual rapport.

I know little or nothing about Torchwood, but enjoy reading what you guys have to say about it.
You should never judge a book (or audio) by its cover...but the artwork on this one is just fantastic. I think i'll buy this one for the aesthetics, and the general enthusiasm for the story shown on this thread.

Once again excellent story.
The Physical side of things was a touch OTT IMO
Once again though I find myself disinterested by the Committee
Hoping the Arc doesn't carry over to Series 2.

Great story and performances, plus the behind-the-scenes segment had a couple of fun surprises for me.
Not sure where the story is going overall though - particularly if we only have one more installment of it left - so I hope it doesn't end up falling short of the possibilities.

So I've posted plenty about Barrowman not being a particularly good "lead" but being a better support character actor. I think this story is further evidence of that as there are 3 characters in this and Jack is by far the smaller role of them. And guess what? Barrowman was fantastic in it! He gets to be the character actor, the support role who can come in and alter events. He's much, much better at that. He comes in like a seualised Eddy Robinson in Double Indemnity and shakes things up. Redmond and the avatar are really where the story is here - Cree not being on the cover is really odd. Even if Barrowman has to be there to "sell" it, it's just silly that Cree isn't there. I thought Cree was terrific in that dual role and was the clear "star" role in this. It's Torchwood's fourth hit in a row. When the extras came on, I was thinking "I bet Barrowman speaks in his real accent here" as he does it every time he's around a fellow Scot. Sure enough! Come to think of it, to go back a bit - never mind the fact Cree not being on the cover is odd...look at the cover. When does anything like this even slightly happen? There's no Jack duplicates, no factory where these avatars are made. It's like we're seeing a shot from a fictitious sequel to the story. It's not as if this was a story where the cover is used as a red herring. There's no big "twists" here. I don't get it. Attachment Deleted

Oh, to add to earlier comments, I thought the "physical stuff" - we can say sex, we're all adults - was fine. It wasn't gratuitous like much of the tv sex was, it actually served a plot point here. No issues with that. I'm not sure if I'm bored of The Committee like others above - I feel like they've only been teased briefly in the releases. If they're that powerful - and to imply they're much bigger than The Families who caused an event like the Miracle suggests they are - it would be a bit off to get rid of them in the last episode next month when we've only got Gwen on the case. I like the idea of a big, impossibly powerful entity that stays around for longer than a series though dropping their name every time just as a tease would need to go.
