Remind me, has Doctor Who ever done a pastiche of Flash Gordon? Either the ‘80s film or the original serials? Given how much of it is in Star Wars, and Who has certainly done rip of-err, homages, to SW, I'd say it's possible. Mavic Chen could be argued to have a bit of Ming in him.

Considering ‘Tis the season after all, it does make me wonder what Big Finish could do as a pastiche of E.T.A. Hoffman’s story ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.’

Considering ‘Tis the season after all, it does make me wonder what Big Finish could do as a pastiche of E.T.A. Hoffman’s story ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.’ I think they should wait and do it during 12 and Clara’s era considering the main characters name is Clara in the story and the back story of the prince turning into the nutcracker has parallels with 11 turning into 12, with the nutcracker form in the story looking like an older man.

Has Doctor Who ever done a pastiche of The Famous Five?
I’d normally just suggest doing a historical with Enid Blyton but I doubt in this current social climate that will happen any time soon so this could be the next best thing.

That could be interesting, I read a book recently that combined Famous Five with the Cthulhu mythos. Maybe they could combine famous 5 with Daleks or something🤔

It's just as well that JNT got rid of K9 just beforehand (quite literally) otherwise the S19 'Five' crew would have been very similar. Tall Blond, confident Julian = The Fifth Doctor Shorter, dark haired Dick = Adric Mousy, shy Anne = Nyssa Headstrong, courageous Georgina = Tegan Come to think of it, JNT must have known what he was up to.....

A pastiche of The Mandalorian where notorious bounty hunter Death’s-Head finds himself responsible for and ultimately caring for an Adipose infant. Featuring a guest appearance from Vienna Salvatori.

A pastiche of Fantasy Island. The original television series, not that awful horror movie that was recently inflicted upon us.
Because c’mon, isn’t that just a perfect premise for Doctor Who? An island where all your fantasies can come true?

This thread seems to be stretching the definition of a 'classic story' lol

Yes! I had a slightly similar idea but I won’t go to far into details though.... Pray tell... Tattoo: "The Plane Boss! The Plane!" Roarke: "That's no Plane....it's...our friend...the Doctor. In his Tardis." Tattoo: "Oh dear. We are going to be busy..."I can’t say to much because I may want to use my idea someday, but basically it involves a mysterious but beautiful deserted tropical planet that telepathically finds out your conscious and deepest subconscious desires and then bends reality to cater to them even altering geography and at times even altering people physically if they do wish. It can be a bit awkward to be there though depending on what your subconscious wants.

Currently listening to the second part of Marty Ross’s’ excellent Arabian Nights adaption for audible. Got me wondering whether Doctor Who has done a pastiche of Sinbad the Sailor and his many, many adventures.

Would be hard to make something such as Max distinct from other such artificial intelligences as BOSS or WOTAN. But I suppose Max is far more genial than the other two.

A pastiche of the Jerome Bixby short story ‘It’s a Good Life’ which was famously adapted into a Twilight Zone episode of the same name.
Having to deal with a child which possesses abilities bordering on omnipotence seems like something the Doctor would do to me.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Steam_Man_of_the_PrairiesHere’s another one would could easily be reworked to fit into the Doctor Who universe. A malfunctioning Cyberman crash lands and is repaired by a teenage prodigy who reworks the Cyberman to run solely on steam power.
