Managed to pick up a copy of it as it’s been rereleased. Ah school time reading when I was a kid via a comic Look and Learn I think it was called. It totally captured my Doctor Who obsessed imagination the stories were gripping to my kid imagination and the artwork was stunning. Any other fans

And anyone reading page 199 might spot similarities with Doctor 3-Jon’s hovermobile.🤪 and this was I believe from 1967

I wonder if it would make a great audio series...

I used to love it in Look and Learn, but only ever got to read the final few years worth, plus a much earlier book with just the first few stories, so this new volume has plenty of stuff new to me. And while I still love it and look forward to the next volume, it’s dated and derivative and Trigo can’t go a week without losing his empire again. The writing doesn’t live up to the artwork.

I am delighted these stories are being released in omnibus form. I agree with cr1980 that the writing doesn't match up to the artwork, but the artwork is so amazing, it would be very difficult. My own memories of The Trigan Empire is during Oliver Frey's time drawing the strip - an era I hope will also be reprinted - but I was bought the huge hardback Trigan Empire collection and was dazzled by the original visuals. Long may the reprints continue!

Recently picked up the 2000 A.D. version of Dan Dare on a recommendation, so I'd definitely be interested in tracking down some more comics. What's The Trigan Empire's backstory and plot for those out-of-the-know?

I see two radio plays were actually produced in Dutch...so it is adaptable.

When I was young on a family holiday, my brother and I found lots of Look and Learns under the children's beds and started reading the Trigan Empire stories in them (didn't bother much with the rest). Later we had a better read of reprints in Vulcan (along with the Spider, Mytek the Mighty, the Steel Claw, Robot Archie, etc) though unfortunately Vulcan was cancelled and they rushed to stories ending (skipping a chunk of TRigan Empire) in a mini comic in the middle of Valiant.
volume 2 is apparently due on Christmas Eve...
