Great cast! And blue suited Tenth Doctor is always good and not used anywhere near enough on Big Finish product!

Neat. Kevin McNally is back. Just finished listening to The Missing Hancocks and made it very clear I’d be up for him doing more Big Finish stuff.
Remind me, didn’t Mark Gatiss play a scientist in The Mutant Phase who was studying Daleks? Could it be possible he’s playing the same role.

With no Daleks on the cover, I'm inferring they might take a more minor role in Volume 1?
(Love the cover btw - and Gemma Whelan and Kevin McNally are great additions!)

Reckon it’ll be all purely space adventures or do you think we’ll get a few historical stories as well?
I don’t mind the Daleks being in the background for now. I rather like the idea of them being some unseen presence which is slowly building up their forces until the inevitable.

I always look forward to more Tenth Doctor releases, with David Tennant, and I am just fascinated with the cover. And wow, Mark Gatiss joining the cast! 🤩

I loved the Tenth Doctor volumes 1 and 3 and the Out of Time special with Tom Baker, but upon further reflection, realized that I'd kind of had my fill (for now) of the chirpy upbeat version of the character. That said, I'm really intrigued by Dalek Universe and hoping that it will be more along the lines of that ominous trailer and lean a bit more into Tennant's darker brooding side of the Tenth Doctor.

whilst I've had my fill if Daleks you can never have too much Ten and I'm pleased to hear that the Daleks aren't centre forward throughout. The Time War stuff also bdnefits from minimal actual Dalek appearances. There's only so much you can do with them and much of it has been, several times over.

Seems I was rather off the mark when it came to my Mutant Phase theory but this sounds like a lot of fun.

Not to criticise David Tennant’s performances so far because he’s brilliant and been brilliant in all the releases we’ve been lucky to have from him, but the way he’s performing here could genuinely be soundbites from 2008/2009. Amazing.

sanderf90 said this in the updates thread, so I'm retreading, but this sounds like {Spoiler} Doctor vs (alt)Master

sanderf90 said this in the updates thread, so I'm retreading, but this sounds like {Spoiler} Doctor vs (alt)Master I'm more and more convinced of this because {Spoiler} while Mark Gatiss has played multiple parts for BF, all of his recent appearances have been as the Unbound Master and each appearance acts as a way of furthering his way, of positing the Unbound Master, and I now believe that his role in Masterful will prepare him for Dalek Universe

Hnnng.... Mark Gatiss. Now I'm even more psyched. But with him playing the Unbound Master more and more, especially recently, I can't help but wonder if he'll be playing a new character or if, like David Warner, he's just "the Master," now.

David Warner has been in plenty of non-Doctor roles, actually. He's had as many Doctor releases as non-Doctor ones since New Benny 3, having been Betterman in two Jago & Litefoots, The Committee in two Torchwoods and a one-off character in the First Doctor Companion Chronicles. Whereas Mark Gatiss hasn't played anyone but the Master in a BF Doctor Who since Excelis Decays in 2002!

I personally don’t think Mark Gatiss will be playing the Unbound Master in this although I’m sure his character will be one of those meta red herrings for us listeners.
In the event this turns out to be Unbound Master Vs Tenth Doctor, however, I would be curious to see how it is handled. The Tenth Doctor did state that if there were any surviving Time Lords about he’d be able to ‘sense them’ (hence his shock as Simms Master) but I wonder if it would be the same for Time Lords from another universe entirely.
To be fair though, I have yet to listen to the recent Warner Doctor on Gallifrey story from the the latest Bernice Summerfield set so maybe they’ve explained that there.

Okay, I got sidetracked by Gatiss, but it occurs to me that since this is a post-Utopia 10th Doctor, there'd be no problem continuity-wise with Derek Jacobi playing the Master opposite David Tenant again. And now that I've noticed that, I'm not sure I could bear to live in a world where it doesn't happen....
Come on, Big Finish. You've got three box sets here. Make it happen.
