I'm not quite sure how to express this idea, but here goes. I'm curious to know one single film that represents your typical taste in movies. Not necessarily your favorite movie or your Best Movie of All Time. I mean, what's one single movie you can point to and say "This is the quintessential me movie." If you wanted to give someone an impression of what you like, what would you show them? And why? For example, mine would be Pulp Fiction. Samuel L Jackson and Quentin Tarantino are exactly the kind of actor and director I like. It encapsulates many disparate things that appeal to me. It's got dark humor, some neo-noir elements, and a touch of the surreal. A fractured, non-linear story. Unexplained mysteries. A weirdo/B-movie sensibility, unusual and maybe even a little cheesy, yet a quality production through and through. Of course, I do have a broader range of tastes than that, but all of those things are in my typical wheelhouse. Hopefully that all made sense.

Labyrinth It’s a dark whimsical (sometimes surreal) fairytale with themes of coming of age, British humor ( with a strong Monty Python influence), musical numbers, and David Bowie. All things that very very part of my taste. Also I tend to like things that are escapist and highly imaginative.

Probably Groundhog Day? Weird, heartfelt, dark, light, funny, serious - all with a time loop and fantastic actors - Bill Murray, Andie McDowell, Chris Elliot, Stephen Tobolowsky, Brian Doyle Murray and (my former improv teacher) Robin Duke.
EDIT: haha oops called Stephen Tobolowsky "Wallace Shawn"

Donnie Darko for sure. It truly shaped me as a teenager, and continues to help guide me. Some have religion, I have time travel and teenage angst.

I don't think i can narrow down to one.
So Connery and Craig Bonds, The Princess Bride, The Muppet's Christmas Carol, Highlander, scenes featuring either Yoda or Vader in the Star Wars films, Good fellas, Die Hard and Transformers films.
Make of that what you will.

The Human Centipede (First Sequence) Spicy lol. Could it be anything else? Love it. Probably Groundhog Day? EDIT: haha oops called Stephen Tobolowsky "Wallace Shawn" I've never seen that one! Is it weird seeing people you actually know in a movie? Donnie Darko for sure. It truly shaped me as a teenager, and continues to help guide me. Some have religion, I have time travel and teenage angst. Right on. Lots of teenage viewings for me too. I've been meaning to pick up the Blu-Ray. Regards mark687 Sounds like you cast a pretty wide net but they all have a certain cool factor. Nothing wrong with that. Good stuff guys! That's exactly what I was looking for.

I'd seen Groundhog Day a bunch of times before meeting Robin, but the first time she was in the room for the "teacher meet and greet" I thought, wait, where do I know you from? Very nice person and has had a great career in comedy, working with a lot of cool people, with stints on both SNL and SCTV. She plays a recurring character on Schitt's Creek these days.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Aliens (director’s cut).
It’s not afraid to slow down when it needs to, it takes its time getting to the action (and really delivers when it does), it obtains a lot of nods to the original (even down to the plot structure) while adding to the world while not slavishly catering to those fans. You can see the (admittedly low) budget being used amazingly well and the entire production crew is treating it seriously.

Much like the Terminator franchise the 1st two is all you really need.

Good for her! That's a cool story. I just ask because I feel like somehow I'd get this mental block where it would shatter the illusion, you know? Like I couldn't stop myself from going "Oh, that's just Bob from down the street, he's not really a ninja." I did live in the same small-ish Canadian town as a fairly famous actress who is now part of the MCU, but I never met her before she moved to the States to go be on TV and such. Never met her afterward, for that matter.

Probably something like Carry On Abroad.
Really don’t know what that says about me though.

After having watched last night for the first time in ten years, I'd maybe have to say 'Cinema Paradiso'.
