I love that the Dorian story fell on Halloween weekend. It may not be the best of the range, but I think it is quite good. I loved this set of short, 30 minute stories. This one is a great opener. The idea that the man lives in the machine and purposely calls for Dorian is a great one. Adam, in love with a man who had his soul trapped in a painting, attempts to trap his in a machine. And listening to the history of Dorian and Adam's relationship takes us back to that callous Dorian that we see less frequently as time goes on. I listened to the whole set, and it was fun to revisit on of the best ranges that BF has done.
Next week: The Third Doctor Adventures, Vol 1 (!!!!)

I love that the Dorian story fell on Halloween weekend. That was very intentional when I threw together the schedule! I actually listened to this one for the first time around Halloween last year, alongside the mini-episode Trick or Treat! I have a feeling at least one Dorian will make its way into my Halloween listening every year from now on... This one is a great choice for a freebie - if you know nothing about Dorian, it spells it out and does something creative - I hadn't thought of the man-in-painting/man-in-machine parallel, but it makes Adam a neat foil for Dorian - and explains why Dorian makes the choice at the end, giving the mercy he dare not provide to himself (well, not for a few more decades at least). It's a typical episode - like elka said, not the best but good, solid stuff. Moving and bitter, the way all the best Dorians are. Ah, what a series... I may have only finished it up earlier this year, but I already feel nostalgic for it. One of these days I've got to do the whole thing again (probably chronologically for the novelty of it).

Well better late than never I got round to this. An interesting tale of a man who sacrificed his soul and a scientist desperately trying to give a machine one.
I’ve only done the freebies of the Dorian Gray so far and will definitely be giving the series more of a look.
