Well, according to Nick on the podcast the move to full-cast was suggested by someone at the BBC. So, take that, atheists!

I Wonder if that means The Ninth, Tenth and Twelfth Doctor Chronicles will be full cast? since Vol 2 of The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles features a complete cast with no returning companions/monsters it might be a way of experimenting with BF making their own little worlds with it which yeah is kinda exciting
not sure about Dudman's 12th Doctor voice though

I don't see any point in making the Ninth and Tenth Doctor Chronicles full cast in current circumstances.

To me it sounds as good as Frazer's 2nd Doctor, so I'm here for it. I mean, the day BF nabs PCap will be a glorious day, but until then I'm here for any 12th Doctor content they deem good enough to put out.

See? As much as I enjoy his 2nd Doctor, Thompson's 12 has never been my cup of tea. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, it's a matter of personal preference.

I actually really enjoyed this more than I expected, so much that I've listened to them pretty much back-to-back! None of them are classics, but they don't have to be. They're just four weird and wonderful stories that perfectly capture the spirit of the Eleventh Doctor's era, without resorting to returning elements or feeling confined to what happened on screen. Having four different writers that aren't Big Finish regulars definitely worked in the sets favour too.
My favourite was either The Day Before They Came or The Melting Pot. I loved the imagery of both, but I think the latter clinches it just for it being quite out there! The former gets praise for mentioning The Smiths, though! My least favourite was A Tragical History, just because I felt it didn't take advantage of the concept as much as it could have; it just ends up being a blend of Nightmare in Silver with Mr Clever and The Name of the Doctor with the Whispermen.
As for Jacob Dudman, his impression of Eleven is brilliant, I think we can all agree on that. Although it does show my gripe with impressions, where they throw in the occasional on-screen line to try and sell it to you more, whereas I'd prefer they just let Jake run with it as is. Where it does suffer is that he's a decent actor in his own right, he's no Matt Smith. You get lines that sound like Eleven, but they aren't necessarily how they would be performed. I personally think Smith is second only to Hurt for the best actor to have played the title role, so it might just be me picking up on it more. I just think Matt was so brilliant and surprising in his portrayal it won't ever not be noticeable when you're listening to someone sounding like him, but without the nuance.
I'm glad that they've got some long-term plans in place for this range and will be introducing a new companion. For me, that can only be a good thing and it should let Dudman shine too, as he'll forge his own era and interactions with less comparisons to Matt. Yeah, keep the variety of the writers and stories, throw in a new companion and this range should shine.

Well, now that I've finished the entire boxset, I can definitely say that I very much enjoyed it. Such a brilliant way to experiment with the full-cast format, whilst capturing the Eleventh Doctor era. And Jake Dudman's impression... absolute perfection!

This is a fantastic set. Each story is creative and filled with interesting characters. Dudman does a terrific job as Eleven, and I do think his acting it pretty great. I agree, having 4 new writers to BF was a smart move. They all bring something new and exciting to this set. I didn't vote for any individual story because I loved them all. I just voted for the overall set.
