(Very nearly in before Mark! But not quite )
This is very exciting news. An S11/Sarah story and a S7/Liz story in one set, and the Brig., and two more top authors for this range which is very good to see.
As next year is 50 years since Katy made her Who debut, surely we must be getting some Three+Jo stories as well?
Anyway, here is one for a CD pre-order, twenty-five pounds rapid. (Yes it's £24.99 but that doesn't work as a pun does it? )
EDIT: Just noticed Vol 8 in October! That must be Three+Jo, two 3DA volumes in one year, finally. Thank you BF, bundle pre-order incoming. (My goodness, I only asked for two vols a year in my previous post today, they are quick at BF aren't they.)

As much as I adore Katy Manning as Jo, I’m glad we’re getting more stories with Liz Shaw and Sarah Jane Smith.

Now that is exciting news! As much as I love Three/Jo, I'm very happy to be getting some variation with the Third Doctor, especially since Three/Liz and Three/SJS both have significantly less material than Three/Jo.

Also very pleased about this. Jo is my favourite because 1971 is when I started watching, so those three years are very special, but I love the whole Pertwee era and it's great to see BF starting to explore it more widely.

I always felt Katy Manning was the glue that linked these 3DAs with the original television run. Without her - and it looks like Benton's not showed up here - this box-set is entirely recast. Whilst its great to hear from Liz an Sarah, I hope that October's release (two box-sets in one year - hooray!) features Jo once again.

I'd really like John Levene and Richard Franklin too and since this is a range famous for quality recasts, surely it's time for him to appear (somehow) and make it a S8 50th celebration set. (Vol 8 = S8. It's an sign! ) The current lack of detail for Vol 8 is actually encouraging, as if there is something worth a news item of its own...

Yes, yes the news release did just make me "D'aaaaw!" slightly louder than was necessary I'm not really a follower of the 3DAs, but this might be one I end up getting...

Two Third Doctor Adventures boxsets next year.
Finally!
😊
(I wonder if Katy's eye operation and recuperation during the Summer played a part in bringing Daisy and Sadie into Volume 7 or the focus on Liz and Sarah Jane this time was always planned? Not that it matters in the slightest...)

Oh I like the idea of doing one Liz story and one Sarah story, the way they often do a Season 9 story and a Season 10 story in one box with Jo. That leaves only one season untouched... And I think we all know who HAS to show up for that to work!
Looking forward to both volumes, as ever with the 3DAs.

As much as I love the Third Doctor & Jo, I think the range has been a little downhill since the excellent Volume 4 and got stuck in a bit of a cul-de-sac of Pertwee paint-by-numbers. That’s fine for those that enjoy it but I personally we’ve had enough of those releases to scratch that itch.
Season 7 & 11 are distinctly different seasons with their respective companions sharing an interesting dynamic with the Doctor. I think that dynamic will naturally offer a different story even if the stories don’t take advantage of the seasons they’re part of. I trust they will, however, and I’m very much looking forward to them. I enjoyed Daisy Ashford’s previous story and I’m sure Sadie Miller will be great as Sarah Jane. It seems like Season 12-14 adventures are inevitable at this point.
If anything this set will be a nice change from what’s come before and I’m sure Jo will be back with a bang in Volume 8.

Yeah we're surely getting Sadie as Sarah Jane in a future series of 4DAs now. Given the earliest they could come out is 2025 I suspect we'll see her in other contexts before then too.

As I came across the preview for 3DA Volume 7 in DWM 558, I nearly shed a tear of joy. So wonderful that we'll be hearing two separate stories featuring Liz Shaw and Sarah Jane Smith! (MUST PRE-ORDER!!) 🤩

I feel like Sarah's least-utilized era is her time with the Third Doctor so I'm fine if they focus more on Season 11 at first!

Exciting news the idea of two stories from two different eras for the 3rd Doctor and how he has changed and softened is a neat touch Also surprised that we are getting two releases aswell which I guess the move to Boxset only ranges seems to work best I guess Volume 8 will be the Katy Manning boxset That has been worked on at the moment

Am I the only one who wishes they didn’t mix the eras in box sets?
I’d be disappointed if they put two adventures, one with Leela and one with Romana, in a Fourth Doctor box set - unless there was a specific link between the stories.

I understand what you mean, but The Third Doctor travelling with Liz or Sarah is new territory for Big Finish, so I suppose you could say we're getting the best of both worlds. I'm very much looking forward to this, especially as the team behind the 3DAs have proven to know exactly what they're doing.
