Am I the only one who wishes they didn’t mix the eras in box sets? I’d be disappointed if they put two adventures, one with Leela and one with Romana, in a Fourth Doctor box set - unless there was a specific link between the stories. I understand what you mean, but The Third Doctor travelling with Liz or Sarah is new territory for Big Finish, so I suppose you could say we're getting the best of both worlds. I'm very much looking forward to this, especially as the team behind the 3DAs have proven to know exactly what they're doing. Yes I'm sure they'll do it perfectly. Only slight concern is can they get the correct degree of bouffon to come across on audio. It's quite a jump from S7 to S11 in one volume, will the alternate covers show both options?

Maybe we'll get a free whipped ice-cream with each release to replicate the Series 11 look?

Really pleased about this news, although I think we had all guessed something like this was coming.
That's my one major request for the 3DAs granted. Thanks be to Big Finish!
Any chance of my minor request . . . 6 part stories?
[And of course a 7-parter for season 7!]

Hmm... I think that's the first cover in a really long time I'm not quite satisfied with. Why is Sarah so big and why are they all ever so slightly rotated? I have the feeling they wanted to go for a collage-y style, but I don't think they pulled it off - imo, at least.

Also, this is an entirely recast release. Despite loving Tim Treloar's Third Doctor, it's just a shame there isn't even one original cast member involved. Then again, it's an even bigger shame so few remain from Jon Pertwee's time on the show - Jon would have loved to be part of these Big Finish stories, I'm sure.
Despite the melancholy I'm feeling, these 3DAs are wonderful, and I'm glad we're getting two releases next year. I'll be getting them because of happy memories of The Third Doctor - which is why this release seems a little bittersweet to me.

Then your comment made me note the clash of perspectives, that of the foreground image/person being smaller than those in the background. "Schoolboy error, Brigadier!"And as davros1 observes, we have a totally recast drama, but I note with the departed originals front of store as the selling point. I hope it works, but its an illusion easier maintained with some authentic veterans still in the mix as we have had previously.

Have you been tinkering with that box of tricks of yours again?'
'Ah, Brigadier... Well, I suppose it's possible my latest attempt to repair the TARDIS extended the dimensional field beyond the plasmic shell into surrounding four-dimensional space. With unpredictable results on the orientation and relative dimensions of objects in the immediate proximity. But the instability is itself likely to be unstable and diminishing, so the effects will be localised and temporary.' 'I see. (Sigh.) Dr. Shaw, could you provide a translation please?' 'Yes, it's his fault and he doesn't know how he did it and he thinks it will wear off soon.' 'Wasn't that what I just said?' 'No, Doctor, it wasn't. Thank you, Dr. Shaw, I'll tell the men they should be back up to regulation height soon...'

Hmm, I’m not keen on the cover either. It looks unfinished; it reminds me of those tutorial videos you see where they quickly cut the characters out to give an idea of where they’re going to go before they start grading and whatnot.

I rather like the cover...and I just cannot resist saying in response to the comments about foreground and background characters - "size isn't everything!"
🤦♂️
I'll let myself out...🤪

Every 3DA cover has characters in the background that are bigger than those in the foreground. I don't think it always works but it's not really new. I think maybe because Sarah Jane is only slightly bigger it somehow makes it more unsettling because it's not clear if it's intentional. Or maybe the Sarah Jane story will be about her head getting bigger and the Doctor spends the whole story giving her a piggyback. I'll guess we'll have to wait and see haha.

I like it, remember when they started this range & had a shadowy 3rd Doctor? That all seems a bit silly now. I am guessing they are mixing both companions here to test the waters, if it goes well I reckon we will get complete volumes with each companion.

Not sure if I like it or not but at least they’re trying something different with the cover. And I agree, I reckon we’ll get a Liz Shaw/Sarah Jane/Jo solo boxset in the near future.

I actually prefer it to the one for Vol 6.

This maybe more exciting than the 9DAs for me. Two cracking writers with two brilliant but little seen 70’s duos!! Also, I suspect that we might be having The Master in Volume 8, but who knows?

Both of these sound very good and already sold on their premises. Hopefully we’ll get to hear the Third Doctor do some Venusian Aikido on some giant sea beastie.
And yes, I too reckon the Master will make an appearance come the next boxset.

They do indeed! I'm (no spoiler ) REALLY looking foward to these sets. And hoping for the Master to somehow appear in Vol 8. I don't know how, but somehow.
