Has the name Koschei ever been used in a Big Finish play? Would you be okay with Milo Parker's Master being referred to as Koschei in Masterful? (If it is indeed the Academy incarnation he's playing).
And, slightly tangentially, has any of the other Deca members been mentioned? Meaning, the ones that haven't later appeared during the Doctor's travels.

Yes according to the wiki (i'll double check).
in Neverland, the Deca included: The Doctor, Vansell, Ushas, Koschei, Jelpax and Magnus (EDIT: that was a deleted line from the script but not in the episode: "This isn't an impromptu reunion, then? No Ushas, no Koschei, no Jelpax or Magnus? No more of the Deca? VANSELL: No, Doctor."
And in The Rani Elite: The Doctor, Drax, Mortimus, Vansell, Ushas (aka the Rani)

I do kinda remember the mention in Rani Elite, now you bring it up. But I certainly do not remember the other one. It was a really long time ago, I don't think I even knew the name Koschei then. I think it's about time to revisit that era.
And it's too bad the reference in Neverland didn't make it... I haven't listened past Scherzo yet, maybe I should take advantage of the current MR sale.

I still think Koschei is meant to be an alias in The Dark Path, not the Master's "real name" though it may be too late to back out on that now.

Yes, I've seen this stated before but I've never really understood why. (Also, "The Dark Path" is also supposed to reveal that Eric Roberts's Master isn't really the Master at all).
A happy medium would be to say that 'Koschei' is the Master's equivalent of the Doctor as Theta Sigma. Not his real name, but genuinely Gallifreyan.
That, or it's short for Koschei-ee-eye-oh'kdown-you-and-why.

I’ve always preferred that explanation to be honest. Just a nickname. Also, am I the only one who’s never been a fan of the idea of the Deca? The suggestion that almost all of the renegade Time Lords were friends with one another is just too convenient for me. You’d have thought the Time Lords would have noticed after a while that all their most dangerous renegades came from supposedly one group.

Wasn't The Dark Path kinda made redundant by having The First Master meeting The Second Doctor in The Home Guard and thus kinda making The Dark Path kinda redundant especially given Drefyus already uses the master title when he encounters The First Doctor in The Destination Wars and that The Masters TARDIS is heavily damaged compared to Koschei's TARDIS

Er....
Um...
Got it! The Dreyfus Master... was the War Chief all along! {Spoiler} He is, after all, recruiting for the War Lords in "The Home Guard".

So, if he isn't the first Master then that probably solves that problem. Is that what was going on in The Home Guard?! By the end I didn't have the faintest clue what was going on. I might have to go back and revisit that one soon...
