Anyone else enjoy this must admit it’s been sitting there waiting to be played.Much reminds me of the fun I have with the BBC adaptions of the Charles Paris mysteries.Got to say I like John Banks in this a lot as the main character

Well this is quite amusing stuff I think a lot of references to UK tv productions might throw some of our American or European visitors off but it aptly parodies even BF lol I had to pause listening to go into my work but had no problem continuing it.Joh Banks and Nicola Bryant work really well in this

I remember enjoying this enormously at the time and was certainly disappointed that we didn’t get any more.
If I didn’t already have such a backlog of audios to listen to I would dig the CD out for another spin.

Oh beggar it I bought the book and cd bundle I really enjoyed it and don’t like to leave something unfinished...even if I have to read it.Am a great Fan of detective type mysteries,Poirot,Marple Ngaio Marsh(sadly not enough dramatisations of her novels) Christie has been done to death now. it was just as good as Charles Paris Mysteries and John Banks is a great narrator and will easily imaging his and Nicolas vocals in any future books and at 12 quid for the bundle, hardly break the bank.
Come on BF get your won detective range going

Well take it it wasn’t a big seller but hey I have heard a lot worse...and will definitely listen again....pity just the one I would have listened to a lot more

And was this only John and Nicola doing all the vocals because if it was Kudos to them both well done it definitely sounds like a BIG cast
yes reading the CD notes it was just two of them...great stuff sorry it took so long NEV to actually slip it in the player and not get hauled away to some distraction

There is an awful lot of Detective Fiction out there, but we know that Big Finish love stories, but not so keen on novel adaptations!
At least they have the Sherlock Holmes range to fill that niche.

Yes but they have gone into slight fantasy mode with that ie Fleet Street Transparency....so I do not class that as detective fiction 🤭

There is actually a great similarity of John Banks speech and Alexander Vlahos and that is a great complement I had this feeling of ... ohhh that’s weird that sounds familiar.....
John seems to be one of these great vocalists as he has done so many BF ranges

The Mervyn Stone audio was brilliant, the books were even better! Geek Tragedy is a modern day classic.

I have recommended them before on another thread and noted that they did nor garner a lot of commentary, so its nice to see others have discovered them too. I bought the Hardbacks as a clearance bundle on the strength of the Audio (with digital books included too, which was a nice surprise). Never really thought before about it being a two hander, like the Scorchies. Its a good sign of the acting talent that it never occurred to be when listening to it that it was the case. Anyone who has frequented the convention circuit in a Sci franchise T-Shirt may well have felt a bit awkward. "Big nosed Bob? That's fantastic!". There's a few podcasts in the archive somewhere too that I have yet to listen too: www.bigfinish.com/hubs/v/mervyn-stone

They did for me, when I bought them. I already had the CD when I got them on offer, which did not include the CD. As I say the e-books were an unexpected bonus. As it started for me, I bought the DL of Axemen, then bought the CD as I was so pleased with it, then I picked up the Books.
