It's 1793 and the Reign of Terror is slicing through the elite of Paris - but not if the Scarlet Pimpernel has anything to do with it! With a very British pluck, and daring bravado, he rescues French aristocrats from Madame Guillotine's embrace. But who hides beneath the Pimpernel’s mask? And isn’t the Scarlet Pimpernel just a fictional character?
At Highmoor House, in England, Peri plays lady of the manor while the Doctor tends to the strange wounds of her ‘husband’, Sir Percy Blakeney. As Peri prepares to host a lavish ball in Sir Percy’s name, French agent Citizen Donat, and a sinister alien force are uninvited guests, both intent on unmasking the Scarlet Pimpernel and putting an end to his heroic escapades, forever!

They've also released the Bonus SST, Crime At the Cinema, directly with both MR releases rather than the usual delay on that. Which will save someone writing to the BBC...

Blimey, this really snuck up on me. Is it the second week of December already? Fun fact caught in a perusal of the Vortex (Magazine), the idea for this story was originally suggested by one Colin Baker. Talk about august beginnings. I'll stop typing now, otherwise tongues will wag. I'm planning on one episode before bed. Just the one. I'm ten minutes in, loving every moment of it, and... I may have to revise that strategy. I'm rather liking this a lot.

Also wrote the comic strip ‘The Age of Chaos’ if I’m remembering correctly. He’d probably be a dab hand at writing a full cast so I’d like to see him give it a go.

Loved Percy pointing out that the Doctor was about as fictional as he is.... more or less...
Question - the poll at the top - is it rated from 1 for brillant to 5 for augh, or the other way round? Don't want to vote incorrectly.

Good opening..... {Spoiler} We start of with the drama already unfolding instead of arriving and engaging and have to say I LOVE when Nichola plays non Peri voices as she has done so well in the past in various tales and in this one despite the setting she does it brilliantly

Well that’s a 5/5 from me and top marks to Jamie Parker in this Exciting/thrilling adventure two tales in one day that kept me entertained throughout....or maybe am just in a good audio mood today lol {Spoiler} I thought it was a heartbreaking dilemma at the end Can a leopard change his spots.....
And resolution I have to go with Sixies treatment of Mathew in lure Of The Nomad...what justice the 6 Doctor can deliver

Gosh, I enjoyed that a whole lot. On one hand it was a great adventure, with surprises, strong character work and an abundance of fun on the other hand it tackled some pretty deep issues intelligently without easy answers. Gave the regulars and many of the guest cast a lot of good stuff to do, didn’t feel like mindless running from one location to the next rather so many got some real good scenes to showcase their acting.
I do wonder if the last episode could have trimmed down the last ten minutes to make the epilog a little shorter, but that is a minor complaint.

Loved this one! After the Six and Peri boxset it was great getting back to a great story with these two.

Excellent story, starts as a fun romp with a great tonal shift.
Although its meant to be pre Trial I'm going to put it post trial as both the Doctor and Peri seem more emotionally mature.
Well done again Chris Chapman

I relistened to this again last night a very dramatic script going the full spectrum from a fun romp to a gut wrenching finale.Those final moments between the Doctor and Peri {Spoiler} Both in the electronic induced carriage and the reality of the ballroom floor really cemented the duos relationship for me {Spoiler}
the supporting cast really stepped up to the mark with this script Jamie Parker especially as the elusive one.Chris Chapman definitely is becoming a writer to be relied upon and long may he be with big finish if he can turn out great dramatic scripts like this.

I'm sorry 'Shadow', I'm sorry Brig, but I think this might be my favourite Main Range release of the year... {Spoiler} I will agree with another poster on here that the 'twist' is how 'Lure Of The Nomad' should have played out (not that that was a bad story, of course, this one just did it better...).
