Another one for you Kestrel.
The first of the (sadly forgotten) Drashani Trilogy which ended with The Shadow Heart.
By god, was this one bleak.
And oh how I adore it so.
What did you all think?

I enjoy the trilogy -the houses (so Dune)I think most of us comment on the What Are You Listening Today thread don’t we ? The Empire really is believable and I am much taken with things like Kaldor in the Robots (recently) of expanding within these type of worlds who all have histories of their own, much like they can do with Peladon. It’s quite an action packed tale and I think Peter is very good in it I remember a lot of sarcasm from him in it too and it shouldn’t be overlooked for an enjoyable tale for those who haven’t listened to it Good old Kestrel we will fill in his blanks-he can do the attaching lol 😂😉

It’s definitely one of the monthly ranges I would quite happily recommend. It’s less an adventure I feel and more a battle of survival when it comes to the Doctor and the supporting characters.
The fact it’s the Fifth Doctor, easily one of his more amiable incarnations, who partakes in it is perfect I think. Rather contrasts to how bleak and despicable some of the other characters are.

Ahahaha... I appreciate it. At this rate, the Index will be filled by the time the MR ends! Maybe! Possibly! Potentially! Also, I really like that you put the writer in the thread title. Definitely trying to prioritize Dorney stories, personally.

I have just looked at the listing on the BF site because I couldn’t remember the name of the monster, but all it says is “sabre-toothed monster”! They were the Ravenous before we got the Ravenous, but I am no wiser to what there were called.
However in the cast listing there are two characters called Ace and Hex!? I don’t remember picking up on that when I listened to it. Perhaps John Dorney wanted to kill those characters off, but wasn’t allowed to do so with Sophie Aldred and Philip Olivier.

I think just an error on the website the back of the Cd lists Caroline as Shira clive-as Tuvold which corresponds with the listening

Just given the TARDIS Wikia a look and apparently they were called The Igris.

I think most of the writers on Bf have something to offer and it’s nice to get variety and different styles I definitely agree, and typically don't pay much attention to the writers, but Dorney's impressed me with consistently great stories (moreso than certain other fan-favorites), so I don't see any great harm pushing some of his work to the top of my very large queue.

Yeah, I don't think I'm ever gonna finish mine. I've barely listened to a third of the Main Range stories, barely touched on other ranges I plan to get to eventually (4DAs, 3DAs, EDAs, STs, etc.). It's all quite the uphill battle.

Oh I never find it a battle- sometimes I play same Cd loads of times so bad I can mouth the next line that’s when it’s really good lol..I guess if I had taped my teachers giving lessons I could have memorised them too and aced every exam hahahah..just take your time and enjoy each of them-it’s not a competition it’s entertainment lol

The battle is deciding what to listen to next.
Thankfully I've managed to stop binging McGann, but only because I have so few of his stories left to listen to... barely a half-dozen.

It's all quite the uphill battle. Enjoy the ride. I started listening to BF in 2014 and it took me 2 1/2 years to catch up. I can't imagine how long it will take you now. But it's a great trip, no matter how long it takes.

Ahaha... yeah, that's about how long it took me just to catch up with the McGann stories. I started listening to his stuff a couple years ago, but only started branching out beyond that once I got to the boxsets last summer--which was when I started listening to other ranges, too. The whole lockdown thing provided an excellent excuse.
