Well, yes, it's exciting to see they started shooting, but beyond that, it's not much.

Very disappointed with the bluray's deleted scenes. Not one is more than a minute long and most are completely inconsequential. That would be fine if we didn't know there were LOADS of scenes shot and not used including MazKanata being the one to bring the sabre to Leia and Leia going to the planet that ends up getting destroyed by Starkiller Base. Can't help but feel this is being kept aside for the eventual deluxe edition that will also have the missing 3D version. Also peeved that the trailers aren't on the disc at all. They're what gave us all *ahem* a new hope that Star Wars was finally back.

It'll get re-released when Episode 8 & 9 are out in a extended cut form, if nothing else Star Wars does like milking it's fan's. I thought it decent but unoriginal in that it's A New Hope remake, Kylo Ren went from being scary to a petulant adolescent having a tantrum because he didn't get what he wanted & when he removed the mask the character lost any screen presence he had, basically a poor mans Darth Vader. Finns a boring character but i loved Daisy Ridleys as Rey & that final scene with her & .... gave me goosebumps, i think Episode 8 will deliver a stronger emotional movie to the saga. I'd rate Force Awakens 7/10

I'd rate Force Awakens 7/10 I think that was the point of Kylo, a spoilt immature kid alienated by his parents, unsure of himself or his powers and being used as a pawn by Snoke-in some ways it's more scary that a young, seemingly scrawny adult such as him can flip 180% and murder his own father yet still seems slighty hesitant in his morals-the audience aren't 100% sure whether they should fear or pity the guy, or a mixture of both, it's a fascinating duality to be explored in future films i.m.o. Adam Driver was excellent in the role i.m.o, showing a believable combination of terror, hatred and emotional fragility, maybe it's my age...but although Vader was probably more imposing and 'scary' I never found him a particularly interesting villian, Kylo Ren though with arguably something of a generic background is i.m.o the most interesting, believable villain so far in the saga...he's everything Anakin should have been in the prequels i.m.o. I agree with your other points though-TFA had stunning production values and a great cast, but veered to close to the template of ANH, it's better made than the prequels (TFA has a less interesting story, but executes it much better that the convuluted mess of Eps 1-3) and I personally prefer it to ROTJ, but I do hope Episode 8 is more original. Rogue One looks fun though.

I must be seeing a different film if people think Finn is boring He's a stormtrooper turned Resistance fighter who by all rights should be messed up and confused about his allegiances given years of First Order indoctrination. But we dont get that - instead he's massively brave (he is willing to take on ALL of Starkiller Base to rescue Rey, one of only two friends he has) and he's hilarious. Witness his thumbs up exchange with BB-8 or, perhaps the funniest scene in ANY Star Wars film "That's not how the force works.." He knows better than most how deadly Kylo Ren is but doesn't think twice before sacrificing himself to take him on in the last act.

This is a rare thing that happens but reading your post has completely changed my mind on how i perceive Kylo Ren, you have made some interesting points about the inner turmoil of the character which i shall focus on when i rewatch this on Blu-ray.

Yes I agree, this was a tormented kid desperately wanting to be as big and bad as his grandad, but actually being a pathetic school bully who ends up on a very twisted path.
