It constantly amazes me the level of sound design that BF guys/girls come up with the ideas these guys must have of how to create what a script calls for and deserves just Listening to Brood of Erys from skimmers to birthing Drachee sounds and the inner aspect of Erys herself...maybe they do not get enough recognition unlike writers actors, directors and cover designers but let’s be honest without them...these CDs would be very very very dull. Have you can’t favourites among the sound designers?

Not actually a member of a Big Finish Creative Team but I've worked for them off and on since 2002.

Alistair and Nick set the bar really high with those first releases. So far ahead of anything the BBC was doing and still is. Love and dedication beyond their pay grades.

Ian P knows I have a soft spot for The Time of the Daleks sound design and music, so for another shout I'm going for Steve Foxon. He understands, and delivers fantastic scores and atmosphere (Dreamtime and The Juggernauts, for instance).

Listening to Terror of the Master (sound design, Steve Foxon) I was thinking about how much more engaging a traditional audiobook is with music and sound effects. Such a difference from the typical one-voice-with-occasional-music-cues you usually hear.
(And I always love hearing that Three Doctors "contact" sound!)

I always like to get an insight into what they do. Before I listened to the BF extras I always imagined they were people like Jones from the Police Academy movies.
Always strikes me as interesting though that whenever people talk about the need for more diversity at BF, they always mean high profile jobs like writers, directors, lead characters, etc. They never mean sound designers, who seem to be overwhelmingly male, but this never seems to cost anyone a second thought.
