Well, of course there are two answers..
1. In-Universe, the characters can be as mortal or immortal as you like. We've seen Timelords die, we've seen immortals get grey hairs..it's whatever you write it to be, as we're seeing with the TImeless Child arc on TV. You can come up with something, or retcon, or do as you please. DW is a very open forum for that creativity.
2. Out-of-Universe, they're only as immortal as long as the franchise is. If they stopped DW and we got no books, comics or audios afterwards - it wouldn't really matter how immortal anyone is. They'd be "dead" via dormancy.

So Davy cause I don’t get wrapped in all these things-The Timelords didn’t actually grant Matt extra regenerations they were always there?

So Davy cause I don’t get wrapped in all these things-The Timelords didn’t actually grant Matt extra regenerations they were always there? Well, again - in-universe both are true. One retconned the other in essence. The Doctor gets this unlimited (maybe?) set of regenerations...but that was added in 2020. At the time Moffat wrote the Timelords giving a new cycle and birthing Capaldi..that was true. You need to kinda accept that "canon" is evolving. After all, it's over 50 years since Troughton said Timelords "live forever, barring accidents" - and people don't get hung up on that. Again - the show will ALWAYS find a reason to write around anything that limits it's own future as long as the BBC or licencees want to. Just like Bond, Godzilla, Batman...any big franchise that runs for longer than one creative team.

No just wondering where it stands currently not had much time to think about it this year at all so my take is currently from what has been screened the Doctor is possibly immortal

Could not be. As of right now, it seems that yes the "soul" of The Doctor comes back. Though not right away, surely otherwise other Timelords would have noticed this a looooong time ago. But again, even when the Doctor is mortal and limited - say by 12 regens...it didn't stop a swish of the pen to change that anyway so none of that really matters. It's the ride rather than the destination that the show lives in.

Yes am taking it that only certain members of the secret organisation knew this truth of his/her origins playing mental catch up to the tv show lol but thanks for answering appreciate
