Well this is fresh and really enjoyable and very true to the era.Sadie and `Chris actually do a fine take on their parts and similar enough to their original actors...enough to make me look forward to Sadie in the 3rd Doctor adventures reignited my audio listening as I really thought I was falling out of love with BF Doctor Who this year
finally .....Sherlock Holmes is fictional ๐๐๐๐

Fear not - the next 3DA has Jon Culshaw's Brig, Sadie Miller's Sarah, Daisy Ashford's Liz and Tim Treloar's 3rd Doctor. I know it's a deal-breaker for some, but I'm happy that BF are making stories set in this era of the show... Yeah, and I'm looking forward to that, I was kinda meaning that I hope we get more of the Fourth Doctor with Sarah & Harry in some new adventures. As an old fogey I find the Third and Fourth Doctor stuff more exciting a prospect than a lot of the new series stuff that Big Finish churn out.

You have to imagine that's where they'll take Tom next - options are sadly limited and they've done so much with Leela (fantastic though Louise Jameson is). There could be many a stopover on the way to Terror of the Zygons - or Harry could rejoin them for a stint later on perhaps?

Have just listened to Part 1. It is amazing how 'similar' this is to Revenge of the Cybermen, yet very different. The atmosphere is right here and comes across claustrophobic on audio.
It has the hallmarks of a classic Troughton script - the 500 year old diary, the Cyberman hiding away, the gradual realisation that there is something bigger here.
Really impressed with this one so far. Better than what we got, sadly. Tom is on form here and spars well with his co stars. Have never been too sure of the 4th Doctor Adventures, but like this. I think BF might be converting me to another range - thank God it's nearly pay day!

Finally listened to this today after getting the CD in the post. It was so enjoyable, sagged a little by episode 3 but all in all it was a great story. Really liked it!

It was okay+. There are reasons why some ideas don't make it to the screen, and I think Revenge was a better version than this. Kudos to Dorney for his version, shame about the 'Sarah can't throw for toffee' scene. At least she gets redeemed with the Cybermat payload replacing with dust.
Now, don't forget to wash your hands!

I have finished this. I think it is interesting to compare this with the version we saw on TV. The clear difference is that 'Voga' in the TV version is much more fleshed out and the civilisation there is far more developed and interesting than the 'asteroid' society we get here. The link between Kellman and the asteroid society is less developed in this version, which does make for an interesting question as to 'how' Kellman was going to betray the Cybermen and escape (no rocket to blast the Cybership here!)
I still prefer the Revenge model of the Cybermen with the guns on the headpiece - makes them far more deadlier than simply holding a gun. The use of the chest unit as a storing system is something that is quite novel/unique.
Baker is on form here and it shows, he genuinely appears to be enjoying the material and gives a good performance as the Doctor. This time, he shows more of a knowledge of Cyberhistory from the start and the use of the diary is a great link to Troughton's era. The relationship between Sarah, Harry and the Doctor is good and I do hope we get to see more of this TARDIS crew in future releases.
On the whole, this is marginally better than Revenge. It feels very much like a 1960s Cyberstory, which probably explains why there were re-writes at the time. The inclusion of the Vogan society does flesh out the TV version a bit more. Interesting how this story echoed the plot in Earthshock - the idea of the Cybermen sacrificing themselves to destroy a threat is a neat link to the different eras. Again, the idea that these are the 'last' of the Cybermen is not made as clear in this script (or explored), so there is the feeling that the Cybermen are still a potent threat here.

Superb reimaging of Revenge Of The Cybermen, Tom is amazing as ever but the story is tighter paced allowing the drama of the characters to flow more easily thanks to John Dorneys amazing adaptation.
Sadie Miller you done your mom proud, there were moments in this i thought Liz was speaking, Sadie has captured the feisty essence of the character despite having very little to do storywise.
I'd love a future box set o feature Tom & Sadie as you can't have too much Sarah Jane.
4/5.

Just finished this one. I really enjoyed the general atmosphere and soundscape - did anyone else notice the Sword of Orion 'Vanguard' door noise when the hatch is opened in part 1? - but I was expecting a bit more in general I think.
A good 7 out of 10 from me.

After hearing and enjoying the free first episode of The Gulf I remembered that I still had this to listen to.
It is like a season 12 Cyberman story...but it isnโt
It is like having Harry & Sarah Jane back...but it isnโt
It is something I thought I would like...but it isnโt
Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I was disappointed and bored by this.
