A really good Main Range release, and it's set up North in Manchester (and mostly in Gorton - for those that don't know it, one of the less salubrious areas of the city. I used to drive through it every day on my way to and from work).
DI Menzies is a fantastic character - a savvy female police detective, a bit world weary and very sarcastic. She makes a great foil for the 6th Doctor throughout.
And then we have Charlotte Pollard. Stranded, she thanks her lucky stars when The Tardis turns up to rescue her and then...a man known as The Doctor walks out and Charlie has never seen him before.
A funny, dark adventure with a pinch of tower block murder and darkness. 8 out of 10.

A really good story. Almost wish this had led to a spin off for DI Menzies where she has to deal with the alien community of Greater Manchester as well as ordinary police procedural work. Definitely one of the more memorable side characters Big Finish have produced.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Yeah, I really enjoyed this. I never really warmed to Charlotte while she travelled with 8 - McGann has a fairly classless voice while Charley has a genuine “plum” that prevents me from taking her seriously. Putting her with Sixie, who also speaks with an affected air, feels a lot more natural. I am in no way intending any disrespect here, it’s just that RP works in different ways on me: when the actors speak in different styles - not accents or dialects - I find it a little jarring.
