Sometimes the TARDIS takes the Doctor to where he needs to go...
Answering a distress call from the out-world of Triketha, the Doctor and Constance Clarke discover human colonists battling against an onslaught of giant, malevolent insects. The insects’ sting induces a coma, and it is only a matter of time before all the colonists succumb.
The Doctor is curious as to the origins of the insects, which appeared from nowhere, and offers his assistance to the colony’s governor. But is this the Doctor’s first visit to Triketha, or has he been here before? The Doctor must confront a past that he has no memory of and take responsibility for the consequences of his actions.

Colin's last stand in the monthly range (as the sole Doctor, at least). This will be a bittersweet release for purely that reason. I am sadder about the demise of the monthly range than I realised, I think, but luckily this sounds like a terrific tale to go out on. I wonder if Flip will be mentioned? Anyway, tomorrow has been rearranged so I can dive in to this. Genuinely can't wait!

You mean it isn't about a pictureque seaside community living in fear of an influx of incomers bringing deadly disease and hordes of hangers-on? Hey-ho, that would have been WAY too precient. I'll be listening possibly tomorrow as Storm Christoph tries to take the slates off the roof...

Your standard base under siege VS bug aliens adventure but with the return of a classic BF narrative story point twist which your mileage may vary with and certainly not one I would expect this close to the end of the Range.

Well, here we go, the beginning of the end...
Downloaded and currently listening to part 1 now (I should, just about, have part 2 done before I start at work today).

I got half way through then was interrupted so back to the beginning again as I lost my train of thought with this...so back to beginning...the fact that I deem it worthy to go back again means I enjoyed what I heard

Just finished part 3 and, whilst I'm not going to say that it's going to be a favourite release of mine, I am certainly enjoying it!
'Certainly interested in how the twist is going to play out (though I get the feeling that, like Causality, I might need a re-listen at some point due to getting a little distracted throughout it myself...)

Is it an epic tale No but now I have finished the last two episodes it’s an enjoyable one and definitely I will revisit .The Tarlos memory loss is interesting at sets up something for the future I liked the foe and there is mileage in them different from the motivations of the Wirrn and with a decent enough vocal.or will it be left hanging like the initial adventures preceding Lure of the Nomad?Maybe it doesn’t even need revisiting. But who mind wiped him?Plenty of questions.I found Miss Clarke easier on my ears this time less Frozen Ice and more warm water.

...I fell asleep but never one to judge a release after falling asleep by the third episode lol I'm very tempted to make a, "How do you listen to BF" thread. Falling asleep is a real problem! I find that if I'm not doing something with my hands, it's very easy to lose focus. But, alternatively, if that something is too complex, I also lose focus. It can be a weird balancing act.

No normally I don’t lie down but I had been up since 5 am and was 8pm before I started to listen while heading to bed so was guaranteed I would sleep.Auld man has only so much staying power hahaha. Normally I listen while also doing chores and tidying plenty of time on a day off and with restricted lockdown movement plent of chores and plenty of unhurried listening time...though am working weekend this week so as much as I can enjoy .... today. I started Minuet and will continue despite them releasing the 4DA lol...I will continue and tbh it’s not actually annoying me or boring me this time 😂

Word of advice for you Kestrel, try playing a few games of online solitaire whilst you’re listening to a Big Finish piece. It’s mindless enough that you can focus on said play and not too complicated that it won’t distract you. Alternatively, doing a few online Wordsearches at the same time can help as well.

Ahaha... yeah, games are really handy. I've got an "infinite" sudoku app that I use a lot, and sometimes I'll also play "mindless" games on my Switch while I listen--like Diablo III, or HADES.
I am mostly in bed while I listen--or working on 3D models on my PC--but I also tend to listen to stories when I'm not doing well, which for me means not much sleep, lots of pain, and pain meds. And the thing about pain is that it produces adrenaline--and once the pain recedes, it's easy to crash. That's why I've got a fairly poor recollection of many of the earliest stories I listened to, especially the 8DAs. Coming here and taking the time to write out my thoughts for each story definitely helps a lot with the memory, though.

Despite this being a fairly run of the mill type of story (excluding the twist), I found myself really enjoying it. Usually an average story is just an average story for me, but this one just seemed to *work* for some reason. It was nice Now for the twist: I think this is the first solid indication (i.e. not just a teaser) that we're probably going to get some Season 6B stuff. Only Troughton's Doctor matched the description of Tarlos' Doctor and no other companions were mentioned as having been present; add to that that Tarlos knew about the Time Lords and the only logical conclusion is 6B, especially since Tarlos theorises the Time Lords had blocked the Doctor's memories. Personally, I'd rather they kept out of the realms of 6B, but I guess they're going to do what they're going to do... Well, I suppose it's possible that Tarlos' Doctor was one of the Timeless Doctors, but since this would have been written before The Timeless Children aired and the Doctor recognised the incarnation being described, this would seem like a bit of a stretch. EDIT: Just one quick question about the plot - when the heck was the governor killed? He calls his wife "Darling" at the start of Part Four, and the next thing I knew the others were talking about the fact that he'd been killed by the time they'd reached the vehicle. At what point between escaping the lab and getting in the vehicle was Mollis killed? I even played the whole section back and couldn't work it out...

I actually listen to these TO FALL ASLEEP. But that is a German habit, I guess. And yes, it can take a few tries to finish a story that way... If I listen during the day, I often enjoy listening while I paint my Warhammer figures.
