This is awesome. Instant pre-order from me. I love the Eleven, and I love Sixie, so I am looking forward to Sixie's chance to go up against the Eleven. Lol I only do two months in advance nowadays

My initial thought is why is this not a Seventh Doctor set!? After Dark Universe I really want to hear some of his encounters with the Eleven, to help understand his actions in Dark Universe.
However I am not adverse to this, but in a way I would have liked the Sixth Doctor to meet his own incarnation of the Numbered.
But this is certainly an event release and makes good use of the move to box sets for the Classic Doctors.

I wonder how sympathetic the Doctor will be towards the Eleven in this regarding his condition. Despite all his bluster I’ve always seen the Sixth Doctor (or at least Big Finish’s interpretation of him) as being one of the more compassionate incarnations.

(...)I would have liked the Sixth Doctor to meet his own incarnation of the Numbered. Any new incarnation would be welcome! Top of my Numbered/Collective/Eleven wish list is the Second Doctor, Ben and Polly being there when the Two first recognizes his condition...

I could imagine the Second Doctor being the nice chap he is quietly arranging for the Two to be committed to a local hospital in order to possibly receive treatment for his condition (Which as we all know didn’t stick..) Ben and Polly wouldn’t understand why the Doctor would go to such lengths for this villain but the Doctor presumably would feel responsible what with him being another member of his kind.

Could even set it right after Power of the Daleks where their doubts regarding this new Doctor are still fresh. Just out of curiosity constonks, who would you cast as your dream casting for the Two?

The Two is, according to the Dark Universe script, "calm, reasonable, convincing, charming, liar and manipulator". So while I don't have a name in mind, I'd love to see someone who could switch from a gentleman to an absolute monster the way that Derek Jacobi does as the Master. Actually, Adrian Lukis, perhaps? He played a good villain in Survivors. Or maybe someone younger, more suave, like a leading-man type (no offense to Adrian Lukis, haha).

I actually just came across this listing, browsing the BF store at random. I am hugely excited for this! And not just for the obvious reason--though I do wonder where this set will fit on the Elecen's timeline. Post-Doom Coalition, maybe?
But TBH what's got me most interested (and I apologize for beating what is surely a dead horse here) is that Peri isn't involved. I know, I know. Sorry. But I was worried that Big Finish would take a much more conservative route with these new 6DAs and emohasize TV companions--so I'm really glad that the second set makes use of Mrs. Clarke. I've not heard many of her stories (just two or three) but she has a much better dynamic with the Doctor than most other companions of this era, so I'm excited to see how she'll deal with the Eleven.
And also, this whole notion of the Eleven having an insane wife? I looooooove it.

So they may still be more conservative when they turn up. (I’d expect them in episodes, for example).

I love the Eleven, such a fantastic idea for a villain. This is an essential purchase for me, just a shame there's no Flip.

I’d have rather seen the Nine or the Ten. Or even the Six.

I do wonder if the Two, like the One before him, doesn’t start out as evil. It is the fact that he has his previous self in his head urging him on to do the things the One wishes he had done when he was alive. It must be difficult to be good when your self conscious is saying being good never got me anywhere, let’s give being bad a go!

It must be difficult to be good when your self conscious is saying being good never got me anywhere, let’s give being bad a go! I could imagine the Doctor (the Second if we’re using Constonks example) trying to appeal to his better nature (perhaps even suggesting calling ‘their people’ in to help him?) but the Two outright rejecting the idea. He knows that the Time Lords can’t or won’t help him. To them he’d be an abomination, an embarrassment whose fate would involve either being disintegrated or imprisoned in Shada. That’s when the Doctor realises he’s too far gone at this point. But the tale ends with him hoping he finds peace in the future or at least a chance to become a better man. And we all know how that ended up.

I don’t believe this set is part of the monthly range replacement, for what it’s worth. So they may still be more conservative when they turn up. (I’d expect them in episodes, for example). As I understand it, the Monthly Range is to be replaced with the XDAs, which have already started for the 5th and 6th Doctors, creating some parity with the preexisting 1DAs, 3DAs, 4DAs and 8DAs (and upcoming 9DAs). Big Finish kinda sucks when it comes to sorting everything, but this set is classified as a 6DA, and is the second 6DA boxset, so for all intents and purposes this is 6DA 02. Interestingly they appear to be making the MR-replacement XDAs standalone themed sets, instead of simple collections ala the 1DAs/3DAs/4DAs or the miniseries approach of the 8DAs. And, bizarrely (concerningly?) I've heard no news of the 7DAs, which is odd because even though the MR isn't over, Colin Baker and Peter Davison have both had their ranges start.
