I know the Scorchies are very much Marmite villains in that you either love them or hate them but I must admit I’ve always really liked them. Silly as they may be.
Really lampoons and pays tribute to all the best of such television series such as The Muppet Show and on this side of the pond Rainbow and the likes of Pipkins with songs and jokes galore.
Melvyn Hayes and Katy Manning are just great as The Scorchies and I’m glad they had more appearances outside of this one Companion Chronicle.
What did you all think?

Hello again.
Pipkins was terrifying, Hartley Hare was extremely sinister. The Scorchies were equally scary. The performances of Katy Manning and Melvyn Hayes are really something.
I got into a discussion with the composers of the songs Richard Fox and Lauren Yason because the songs are so brilliantly written that they stick in the mind like glue. They thought this was a bit of a back-handed compliment but I had Jo is doing a thing stuck in my head for literally months!
It is great fun and I enjoyed it very much.

I loved this tale and am Glad they got an outing in Jago and Litefoot (for me I wish that the numbers in Jago set had been full length)

Unlike a lot of recurring antagonists Big Finish have introduced, The Scorchies are one of the few examples who didn’t overstay their welcome.

The only other story idea I can think involving them would perhaps be a story which has the Doctor and Co possibly visit the Scorchies before they became their puppet selves. Maybe even exploring which race invaded them?

I think James Goss is one of BF’s best writers, and producers, and I love The Scorchies. I do take the point though that they are a very specific kind of threat and their lack of exposure keeps them both entertaining and threatening.
