Continuing on my journey through the first four volumes of Short Trips, it's time for The Way Forward!
Seldom have I felt so keenly the absence of a The 2nd Doctor Adventures audio range. I love this story, love it, love it, love it--but it really deserved the full-length treatment. Four full episodes focusing in this time-traveling genius kid tryin desperately get figure everything out, building a connection with the 2nd Doctor, and possibly ear in a spot on the TARDIS--it could be so, so, so good.
This story wound up ending right at the moment I was desperate for it to keep going, which I suppose is a good spot to end a story, but at the same time I think it's indicative of an idea too large for its format--this one of literally bursting at the seams.
And on a side note, much as how the Doctor eventually makes a habit of trawling museums for fun, I can definitely see the 2nd Doctor just popping up at random high school science fairs for fun, too.
Well... those are my thoughts. How about y'all? Have you listened to The Way Forward recently? And if so, what did you think of it?
