I listened to Festival of Ink and enjoyed it very much; my first exposure to Magrs non-Doctor Who stuff. It did feel like a window into a much larger chronology though and the ending is just a chapter ending rather than a final scene. I liked the grey areas the characters inhabit which is always a winner for me in fiction. Reg Tyler, Catriona and even Cleavis fill this trait perfectly. As for Brenda I visualise a woman I used to work with in the role perfectly, although again I expect the character featured in this story is not representative of the character as a whole.
I've recently restarted reading the EDA books after stalling on Placebo Effect over a decade ago! How I finished it this time is still a mystery! The Scarlett Empress is only one book away. I may listen to Charing Cross at the same time. As for Enter Wildthyme I feel that will be much sooner. I can never have enough of Katy in the role.
