Already have a massive list covered: boxd.it/tWUKBut the short list is: Anomalasia, Brooklyn, High Rise, Son of Saul, The Witch, Spotlight, Ghostbusters Plus some Blu-ray releases: Culloden/The War Game, Waking Life, Audition, Children of the Corn The Danish Girl was on the list but it seems to have mixed reviews, and apparently it doesn't approach the trans issue in the most sensitive light and it has a degree of 'Oscar bait'.

The only upcoming films on my radar are Civil War and X-Men Apocalypse. I'm keen for the next Star Wars, but that's just under a year away.

Loads. Spotlight, Dad's Army, I Saw The Light, Snowden, Nice Guys, High Rise, Sully...many others not on the tip of my tongue but I could do without the superhero stuff. I adore my comics but the cinema is becoming over-saturated. The more we get the sooner the backlash begins and the bubble bursts.

Don't really look at movies past a couple months in advance, so I only know about The Forest for January and Deadpool for February.

I think Marvel are prepared for that - I'm quite sure that after Infinty War Part Two there will be a lull in MCU films for at least two years. Whether or not Warner will play things that smart is another matter enterily.

Wasn't there word Marvel might be dropping the Inhumans movie? Agents of SHIELD is going pretty well with covering them.

For me: Carol Finding Dory Peanuts (PLEASE BE GOOD) Deadpool. Carol and Peanuts were released this year Carol is worth checking out, although I found it slightly disappointing, although still strong. However the 16mm cinematography is absolutely fantastic. The film has a credit to being based on a book titled The Price of Salt. So I assumed that the novel came out a couple of years, maybe 10/15 years ago, actually it was published in 1952/3 by a lesbian author under a penname, and I believe has since fallen into the public domain (we're going off memory of a Wiki article here though)

Danish girl Hateful 8 (even though I'm not sure of the runtime) Creed (it's not out in the uk till 15 January) The room The remnant Jane got a gun (it's been in distribution hell due to realitivity filing for bankruptcy) deadpool Pride prejudice and zombies (fun premise) Eddie the eagle Triple 9 (just look at the cast) London has fallen (the first was silly fun) Brothers Grimsby (sasha baron Cohen does spy) Divergent 3 (hopefully better than 2) Jungle book Huntsman Captain America: civil war X men: apocalypse Neighbors 2 ( I enjoyed bad neighbors) Conjuring 2 Now you see me 2 Warcraft Finding dory Id4:2 (even without smith) Bfg Legend of Tarzan Secret life of pets (the trailer is hilarious) Star Trek: beyond Suicide squad (I'm honestly more excited for this than superman vs batman) Pete's dragon Magnificent seven remake Girl on the train Inferno Jack reacher 2 (I liked the first even if they did cast reacher wrong imho) Dr strange Fantastic beasts and where to find them Star Wars: rouge squadron
Unsure Dads army (not sure if it's going to work) Superman vs batman (the more I read the more it feels like it's throwing the kitchen sink at it and hoping it sticks. I loved man of steel but this just feels like they are trying too hard by having too many characters have cameos) Ghostbusters (need to see a trailer first) Assassins creed (I want to get excited but not sure how it will cross over to film

I can't wait for the Ghostbusters reboot, although unfortunately it looks like the Dad's Army film has been written by a 'stupid boy'. I know Dad's Army was often a little daft but the film looks a bit too silly and I haven't found anything in the trailers that funny. I have no idea why they keep showing that cow joke for example because there's nothing remotely funny about it.

Two and a half months in, it's already interesting to look at what we were looking forward to. I mentioned High Rise in my post above and I was lucky enough to go to a screening of it 2 weeks ago with Ben Wheatley introducing it and doing a Q&A afterwards. It's a really, really great film. It's every bit as odd and as off the wall as the Ballard book. It won't be for everyone but I doubt anyone will be on the fence over it. I chanced my arm and took my Wheatley blurays along and in the bar afterwards he was kind enough to sign all of them - Down Terrace, Kill List, A Field In England and Sightseers. I should have taken Doctor Who Series 8 as well, I guess, since he directed Deep Breath and Into The Dalek! Cherished films all of them - he's the best British director of the past few decades for my money. Up there with Lynn Ramsay and Danny Boyle. The others I mentioned...well, Spotlight was great of course (though I don't think anyone thought it would beat The Revenant to the Oscar) and Dad's Army was....well...it had a great casting director. That's about it! Still loads to look forward to but I think my most anticipated release this year is an archive release - the BFI's Alan Clarke 13-disc bluray retrospective. Will be a real treasure trove for a director who is up there with Bill Forsyth and Nic Roeg as my favourite of his generation.
