They have, actually, in the Subscriber Short Trips story Tuesday, which is set in 2001, although it's only a line or two... where Harry mentions that some of his research has been misused to create some appalling weapons. Ah I see. I must admit the idea of Sullivan’s Gas never quite sat right with me. He might have had his faults but Harry Sullivan never struck me as the sort who would concoct such a weapon. Agreed. I always expected it had been an accidental discovery of his that got co-opted by the more military UNIT chaps (like the 1980s team). Might have even been why he left!

Finally! This is one of my favorite ranges and it's been torture waiting for a new set to be announced. We only had the eight original sets and they never even released the third one, so really only seven.

Literally earlier today I was thinking about the UNIT series. UNIT Australia sounds cool to me. I'm all for exploring the other branches of UNIT.

Australian UNIT has popped up in a DWM comic before. They had an underwater base in Sydney harbour if I remember right.

Not sure if Big Finish have already touched on this and I somewhat doubt they will in this (considering said enemy isn’t the main antagonist) but I wonder if they’ll explore how Harry Sullivan might react to discovering that he will one day create a weapon which could wipe out an entire species? Just curious because they specifically mention this is a younger Harry Sullivan and one who might not have even developed Sullivan’s Gas yet. They have, actually, in the Subscriber Short Trips story Tuesday, which is set in 2001, although it's only a line or two... Yes and thanks very much Tony Jones . I loved the story and also you rescued Harry's reputation after the injustice they did to it in The Zygon Invasion/Inversion.
I never believed it anyway. He was a naval officer, a doctor and a gentleman and all-round good sort; a bit old-fashioned even back then but he would never do anything evil. The Brig trusted him, the Fourth Doctor liked him (in that teasing sort of way ) and Sarah liked him too. And their opinion is more than good enough for me!

Tbf i always took it considering that the doctor called him an imbecile and nothing worse that it was more an accident or something he made that was repurposed, not that he made it specifically to be used the way it was.

I've never listened to any of the previous UNIT releases as they haven't grabbed me. However I do love the Ice Warriors and now I am seriously debating getting this set. Will I be able to dive in or is there a load of stuff I won't understand. Are the previous releases all linked so there will be too much continuity for me to know what's going on?

The sets 1-8 are more or less standalone and some of the later sets are each several standalone stories, so you can hop into the range anywhere. There are a few back references and links but not many and they explain them when needed. I started with Vol 4, went forward and only heard the early ones after all the rest and it was fine.
I expect 'Nemesis' is designed as a natural jumping-on point anyway, because we already know there are several new elements being introduced. Seems like a good time to join U.N.I.T. !

Yes I did that deliberately (without any prompting) as I never liked the Moffat idea of Harry doing something terrible. It never felt right to me and Ian Atkins (who produced and script edited) was totally on board

I made a rather nice discovery just the other day. A while back I was reorganising shelves and discovered, between the Doctor Who Crossword Book and Puzzles and Brainteasers, I'd picked up a copy of Harry Sullivan's War. It's a good read and I've been purusing it very gently between other things, but here, particularly, from the typewriter of Marter 'imself. Harry, circa ten years after his UNIT days.

Jac Rayner?) making him a savage and murderous werewolf, probably? Has anybody fixed that one yet?

I think that was a Council of Eight thing. One of a few subsequently unhappened companion futures.

I love it already. It might be the most absurd pairings ever, but I love it! Mark Bonnar is a Big Finish treasure!
