Oh no, I'm very sad about this news. He was one of those actors who just seemed to go on and on, always giving great performances. Looking at Wikipedia, I see he was starring in films until he was 89, which says something about how popular he was. RIP.

I always found Christopher Plummer to be such a handsome looking man (lucky devil) and those good looks only became more distinguished as he got older. I’d forgotten that he played the Phantom in one of the Pink Panther films. I’ll have to re-watch one of his movies this week to honour his memory.

A great actor, whether performing 'in the original Klingon' or not.
Two more roles that stand out for me are his Holmes (with James Mason's Watson) and long before 'Gladiator' he was Commodus in one of the legendary Hollywood 'epics' which I rewatched only recently: 'The Fall of the Roman Empire'. As hero or villain, every appearance was memorable.
