"
Andy has a girlfriend. She's called Caite, and she's utterly lovely. And then she meets Owen.
Owen finds out that Caite has a secret. One that he's desperate to understand. But the more he discovers, the more dangerously close to Caite he becomes.
What's going to happen when Andy finds out?"

I like the cover but I’m honestly surprised Caite isn’t on there. Especially considering the story’s main premise is that Owen has become a third wheel.

I’m usually not too big on the Big Finish trailers, the content from them more than often doesn’t captivate my attention. However, this Gooseberry one really S-E-L-L-S the product! I love that it ends on an arresting note. The delivery of that last line of dialogue from Owen is so effectively nonchalant.

Goes pretty much as expected plus the usual great back and forth with our 2 leads.

I was struck by how much Owen sounds like David Tennant on occasion here. I'm glad Burn Gorman's doing a lot of these audios, he's excellent - perfectly balancing comedy and drama, and he has a perfect partner in Andy. This story does what only Torchwood can do, and does it very well. James Goss marries the macabre weirdness on display with genuinely humourous banter. Owen is a wonderful character, an anti-hero with a conscience - but not much of one. Lois Chimimba is also very good as Caite - it can't be easy to slot so easily between two such established and welll-played leads, but she manages it. Another great Torchwood story.

Isn't it odd how easily Andy befriends the shadiest people from the Torchwood universe ? Yvonne, Norton, Owen... And yet none of them deserve him. He could hang out with Tosh, Ianto or Gwen who seem much more honest, but no. I thought that was easily one of Tom Price's strongest performances for Big Finish, the ending took my breath away. Burn Gorman is stellar too as usual, - I still believe he always was the strongest performer of the original group - he should pitch ideas to James Goss more often. This was dark through and through and the ending was quite poignant, {Spoiler} you can't help but feel as disappointed as Andy, hoping Owen will confess everything. And yet he doesn't, which is heartbreaking. A really strong opener for this new series of Monthly Adventures, I can't wait for next month's episode. I've missed Jack and his box set came out over a year ago now. Roll on May.

I didn’t know what to expect from this release and was very pleasantly surprised. Owen is in fully fledged nastiness here however unlike Series 1, where he was just horrible for seemingly no reason, here his motivations are very clear and sympathetic in their own way.

I keep telling everyone watch Fragments and Exit Wounds from Series 2 for brilliant examples of character study and revaluation (mixed Bonus it also shows Chibnail can write it). Regards mark687

Didn't really know what to expect going into this one, but it's now on my (ever-expanding) list of best Torchwood stories. Yet again, Goss knocks it out of the park, and Burn Gorman, Tom Price and Lois Chimimba are all exceptional in their roles. Caite's character was so interesting, and it led to a really well-thought-out but ultimately tragic story. Owen and Andy's characters are understood so well, and what makes this release so good is that, throughout, Owen's actions are believable and understandable. {Spoiler (ish)}The reveal as we go through that while Owen starts out as the gooseberry, Caite becomes the gooseberry in a way, and, by the end, Andy becomes the gooseberry in a third way was just amazing. Heart-breaking, but amazing. The Torchwood Monthly Range just isn't making any sacrifices when it comes to the quality of its output, and this release continues that trend. 10/10.

Another disturbing Torchwood story. I am not convinced I really understand the end. I think there may be multiple interpretations. Owen could have been lying to Andy to get rid of Caite there or Caite really was doing something nefarious or

Owen could have been lying to Andy to get rid of Caite there or Caite really was doing something nefarious or Hmm, if I understand you correctly, I didn't find the ending to be ambiguous. {Spoiler} Caite's alien invasion plan was clearly predatory and after the murder of the old lady, Owen was lying through his teeth (do anything, say anything) to primarily save his own skin. James Goss took Owen's ethics to an all time low. And, when given the option of Caite erasing the past (even before her master plan was revealed) Owen was more than delighted to get rid of her to cover up his crime!

It depends on whether the listener can trust what Owen is saying.
