“Why do I feel taller?” 12 said, but it wasn’t 12!
Peter and 12 had swapped bodies!

The Doctor looked over to see that sat in the shadows was a bulky figure, eyeing him suspiciously. His piercing eyes locked onto the Time Lord.
The Doctor approached him. Could it be? Had he found a way to escape Castrovalva?
The figure leaned forward to reveal the heavily muscled and scarred form of Absalom Daak.
The Doctor paused. No, no he hadn’t. In fact, he had no idea who this newcomer was. Someone he had yet to meet perhaps?
Glib glanced nervously at the Doctor then back at the notorious Dalek Killer. Daak returned his gaze causing Glib to promptly turn a bright blue with fear.
“I’ll get some drinks, shall I?”
Daak grunted as Glib quickly escaped into a back room. The same back room where Max was currently recuperating.
“Look, I’m sorry mate...” said the Vespiform getting back on his numerous proboscis. “I didn’t mean to embarrass you but you know what the shandy does to me. Goes right through me it does..”
“Never mind that!” interrupted Glib in a hurry. “Shut up, keep your head down and if we’re lucky we might just live to see another day”
Using all of his arms, he quickly bolted the door with all its locks.

“Look at me! I’m Doctor Who!” Little Peter in 12’s body shouted running around the console room.
“No you’re not! And it’s the Doctor, not Doctor Who” 12 in little Peter’s body said, rolling his eyes.
“Stop it you two!” Clara shouted.

Daak didn't seem to have noticed the Doctor, who suddenly felt something on his shoulder. He turned his face to find himself looking straight at Captain Jack's hand. Jack dragged the Doctor away, nervously.
"Hey, I didn't actually mean for you to go strike up a conversation with the guy," Jack insisted. "A buddy of mine'd be pretty upset if you got chainsworded up at your time of life. That's Abslom Daak, bona fide Dalek killer."
The Doctor shook his head. "Never heard of him. But.. Dalek killer? The psychotic criminals who are dropped into Dalek-ruled planets to kill as many as they can before they're killed themselves. What could one of them be doing here?"
"Well," Jack considered, "he's killed a lot of Daleks, he deserves a drink or two."
"Dangerous madman or not," the Doctor decided, "I need to speak to him."
He strode over and introduced himself.
"I'm not interested," Daak muttered, not looking up. "You're friends with cock of the walk king-of-the-hill Jack Harkness over there, I don't want to know you. Unless you know where Tayin is, or you're a Dalek, or a waiter, I ain't gettin' involved."
"I can't help you with any of those things," the Doctor conceded, "but if you're the time traveller who overtook my TARDIS, we *do* need to talk."
Daak looked up, at last. "You need to be very, very careful 'round me, fella. I'm huntin' chickens."
"So, you're also following the Ergon?" the Doctor asked. "You're in this Omega business, too."
"Yeah, but so far all I found is a buncha loundmouth schnooks," Daak said, with some menace. The Doctor felt like backing away, but didn't.
Suddenly, Daak stood up, all ready for action. There'd been some kind of light... the Doctor turned round, to see Jack pointing out of the bar.
"Hey, Doc!" Jack cried. "A giant cock large rooster just materialised out of nowhere and ran after Glib!"

“What did you do?!” 12 in little Peter’s body shouted grabbing and shaking little Peter in 12’s body.
“I pressed the big red button.” Peter in 12’s body said shrugging his shoulders.
Clara couldn’t decide if this was hilarious or horrible. It was a big mess but she had to laugh.

"So, this is the TARDIS's doing?" she asked. "Does it resent you doing the whole 'yoof' thing? Is this its way of punishing you?"
The TARDIS, evidently resenting the implication, lurched.
"Nothing to do with the TARDIS," the Doctor snapped, "and, my current predicament notwithstanding, I've never done anything 'yoof'full. This has the stench of magic about it."
"Magic's not real!" shouted Peter. "It's pretend!"
"You've always said so," Clara agreed. "Magic is just advanced technology you're not familiar with, you always said."
"And why were you listening to me?" the Doctor demanded. "I'm always talking rubbish. I'm the one who told you that Robin Hood and Mr Tickle and tea-flavoured KitKats weren't real!"
As they bickered, they were being watched.... on her crystal ball, Morganine conjured the scene, with Omega looking over her shoulder.
"Thy work is good, witch-woman," Omega declared. "Omega is pleased."
"Omega is wasting everybody's time," snapped Yvonne. "All that power between you, and you play silly pranks. And why's the Ergon gone running after a barman? What possible use can he have to you?"
"Thou see'st not the possibilities, gaoler," Omega declared. "The creature will be the means of winning the loyalty of the beings thou hast imprisoned."
"And I'm not happy being addressed with first-person pronouns, either," Yvonne said sarcastically. "All this 'thee thy thou' stuff. Give it a rest."
"Then shuttest th- your mouth," Omega snarled, "lest I shut it for th- you."

Glib had no idea what had happened.
One minute he had been cowering in the back room next to an increasingly sober Vespiform, the next he was running for dear life from some monstrosity that had happened from nowhere.
He took a quick look behind him only to see the Ergon slowly loping after him. Right. That’s it he thought.
After today, he would definitely be asking for a raise.

12’s mobile rang.
“What’s that noise?” Peter in 12’s body asked.
“Give it here!” 12 in Peter’s body yelled jumping to grab the phone out of his hand.
12 answered the phone.
“Hello?” he said.
“Dad? Your voice sounds even weirder! Where are you guys? Are you okay? We have been looking all over for you! I was about to call the police!” Eve panicked.
“Something came up,Rainbow-er-Eve. We’re fine. I just have a bit of a cold, that’s why my voice sounds different. Here’s your mum.” 12 in little Peter’s body said handing the phone to Clara who had to bend down to reach it, while trying to keep an eye on Peter who was eyeing more buttons on the console.

Glib did not know where he was.
The chicken-creature had laid a single claw upon him, and the world had quite literally disappeared. Then Glib was in a new place, a steel corridor, and the chicken vanished as quickly as the bar had done.
It appeared to be a nondescript metal corridor, with doors down one side. Each door had a little covered slot to look through, and great big locks. A prison, then?
Glib examined the first door. The door - in fact, all the doors, and the walls and floor and ceiling - appeared to be made out of dwarf-star alloy. An impregnable prison, then. Glib might be safe from anything locked away, but he didn't feel any less frightened.
And what lay behind the first door terrified him more than he had ever felt. He moved aside the cover to peer through the slot, and saw to his horror - a Dalek!
Yet, it lacked a gun, and it was secured to the floors of its cell by chains. Glib also observed that it was anunusual gold colour, and its - head? top? - was swollen.
It had observed him.
"FREE.... ME!" it cried. "RELEASE... MY CHAINS!"
Glib was frozen to the spot.
"RELEASE ME! OR YOU WILL BE EX-TERMINATED!" the Dalek cried impotently.
Glib pushed back the cover, and moved on to the next door.
Looking through, he thought at first the cell was full of water, but it couldn't be... it was snowing. Inside a cell? No, it *was* underwater, and yet there was snow falling. As the murky waters cleared, Glib thought he glimpsed... was that a pine tree underwater? Decorated with strands of colour, and lights?
Suddenly, something slapped against the viewing port, some sort of tentacle covered in suckers, huge. Glib shoved back the cover; if there was some sort of squid from beyond the dawn of time in there, he didn't want to see it. Against his better judgment, he moved on to door number 3.
The prisoner here was much less scary, a tiny lizard on a green shelf. It saw Glib, and began to run towards the door. Its little legs powered, but it didn't seem to be making much progress.
Suddenly, Glib grasped the the perspective. This wasn't a tiny lizard on a green shelf near the door, this was a big lizard a long way away on a green meadow, a meadow that could not possibly fit inside the cell. Yet the lizard was running, getting nearer, and bigger, and huger, a full eighty storeys tall, and as it approached it roared its terrible cry, "FINN FANG FOOM SMA-"
Glib slammed the cover shut, and backed away. Even though he knew nothing could get through that door, he was shaking.
And, yet, he was drawn to open the viewer of the final door. Inside was a bare cell, but lit with a blue light. And he could hear a voice:
"Blue is beautiful, blue is best. I am blue, I am beautiful, I am best!"
It was hypnotic, and Glib would have fallen under the Voice's spell, had not the viewing panel been closed. But the hand that did so was not his own.

12 in Peter’s body cursed under his breath. How were they going to get back home to Eve and explain this mess? He would need Clara’s advice.
“Ooo you said a bad word!” Peter in 12’s body said giggling.
12 was fuming.
Clara tapped her furious, currently mini sized husband on the shoulder.
“Your not going to like this but I think for the time being, Peter will have to pretend to be you.” Clara said.
“No” 12 said folding his small arms. “ Just until we figure out how to switch you back.” Clara reassured her husband.

Glib turned to see the clawed hand of an Ice Warrior. He looked up to see the familiar form of a Martian looming over him.
“I would not do that if I were you.” he hissed.
Glib said nothing. Even in his little backwater part of the universe, the Ice Warriors had a legendary reputation for being fearsome warriors. Avoiding the Martian’s gaze, he looked down. Curious, he noted. No weapon. He took a deep breath.
“Hi.” he said. “I’m Glib”
He extended a hand outwards.
The Ice Warrior looked at him intensely for a moment.
“Ssard. My name is Ssard.” replied the Ice Warrior.
Then, without saying anything further, he turned around and marched down the corridor.
Not seeing a better alternative, Glib reluctantly followed him.

"I don't remember", said Yvonne slowly, her voice dripping with irony, "having any Martians in our vault. And I'm per-etty sure that if Torchwood *had* captured an Ice Warrior, it would have been *inside* one of your cells. I get the impression your plan is falling apart somewhat."
Omega glared at her.
"Go on," Yvonne continued. "Give us a hint. What power does Glib have to get all the monsters lined up behind you? You can't just rely on him to offer them all free drinks."
Omega, infuriated, raised his arms to blast her again, but fortunately at this moment the Ergon returned.
"Ergon!" Omega proclaimed. "I have a new instruction for thee! Head to these coordinates" - he indicated a chart - "and when the TARDIS arrives, seize the young boy, and bring him to mine own realm!"
Morgaine grinned. Finally, the Doctor would be in her power! (More-or-less).

“So, where are we?” asked Glib as he opened another hatch only to see a Weevil growl at him before shutting it. Not today, thank you.
“Prison” hissed Ssard.
“Well, I didn’t think it was a holiday camp.” said Glib. He looked over and laughed nervously as Ssard shot him a look of the utmost disdain.
Right, he remembered. Ice Warriors weren’t exactly well known for their sense of humour.
As they turned a corner down a practically identical corridor, Glib noticed the wrecked remains of what had once been a cell door. Now lying off it’s hinges and sparking.
“Blimey, what do you think broke out of there? Something nasty I bet.”
Ssard shot him another look.
“Wait, this was your cell?”
“Yes.” replied Ssard.
Glib let out a whistle of admiration.
“Remind me never to piss you off.”
Ssard chuckled.
Well, thought Glib, at least they were getting somewhere as the two continued to make their way through the prison.

“All right, Peter you get to be Doctor Who.” 12 in little Peter’s body said forcing a smile.
“Really?!” Peter in 12’s body said jumping up and down.
“. Really!” Clara said trying to be more positive than her husband.
“ I can pilot the TARDIS?!” Peter in 12’s body said, eyeing the many buttons and controls again.
“I will instruct you exactly what to do.” 12 in Peter’s body said quickly before Peter could touch anything else.

On realising that the Ergon had seized Glib and taken him, the Doctor and Jack and Daak had a conflab. Daak proposed that either the Doctor take him in the TARDIS to follow the Ergon or he, Daak, would cut his way into the TARDIS using his chainsword. Jack proposed the possibility that this could not occur, the TARDIS being impregnable, and Daak offered the counter-argument that his chainsword was one of two in the entire universe that could cut through dwarf-star alloy (the other being in the possession of an Ice Warrior), and that it could presumably do damage either to plasmic shell or spine of time agent as necessary.
So, the Doctor and Daak were now spinning off through the vortex in pursuit of the Ergon, little knowing that they were heading directly to Omega's realm, and Jack was sitting alone in the bar and wondering whether he was entitled to get his drinks himself. He didn't think to check on Max, and it wouldn't have done any good if he had done, since Max was no longer there...
* * * *
The Ergon sat in a magical grotto. Once it had been weaved by Morgaine to entrap Merlin (he got out pretty quickly); now it was to be the place to which the twelfth Doctor, Peter and Clara were destined to arrive. The Ergon could not think as such, being only an extension of Omega's will, but it was uncomfortable in this place of sorcery. It had not even the reassurance of the company of Gell Guards, for it sat alone, waiting. Shapes moved through the mist, willo-the-wisp, perhaps. The Ergon could feel the sense of the uncanny.
It could not think, but dimly it hoped the TARDIS would arrive soon.

“So you’re from Mars then?” asked Glib.
Ssard nodded as he glanced from cell door to cell door.
“Never been there myself, but I heard it’s lovely. A bit too warm for me personally but then again I should expect you lot are used to it.”
Ssard turned to look at him.
“Sorry. I make jokes when I’m nervous” explained Glib.
Ssard nodded. “I, too get nervous” he admitted.
There was a certain oddness to this Ice Warrior Glib thought. You wouldn’t have guessed it at a mere glance but there was a unique quality to this particular Martian that made him almost seem.... human.
There was a short silence as he pondered this fact.
“Got any family?” he asked in a desperate bid to break the silence as they passed through yet another corridor.
“A wife.” answered Ssard. “But my beloved is...” He paused and with a certain amount of deliberation finished with “missing.”

As 12 reluctantly helped teach Peter how to pilot the TARDIS, he thought about what if he and Peter were permanently stuck in each other’s bodies. 12 may have been a bit grumpy about the situation but he didn’t wish for a young inexperienced human boy to have the responsibility of being in his Doctor’s the body , nor did 12 fancy being trapped in the body of a human child. 12 shuttered it didn’t bear thinking about. But 12 kept going. He was starting to realize that for a young boy Peter really was good at piloting the TARDIS. Maybe he could teach Peter how to play the electric guitar as well if there was time.
“That’s how you pilot a TARDIS.” 12 in Peter’s body said smiling for real this time. He had begun to actually enjoy himself despite everything.
“Thank you! Your my hero.” Peter in 12’s body said picking 12 up and attempting to hug him.
Clara looked on and smiled the Doctor really was a good Dad, even when he was in the body of a small boy. Then she thought about her and the Doctor’s own children and how they would have to explain to them about their true nature. Then Clara had a thought that she hadn’t had time to think about before: If she and the Doctor were not normal humans anymore what did that make their children? After all Clara did not have a heart beat or breathe and the Doctor was Timelord. Would their children change into something else other than normal humans now that the Chameleon Arch was broken?

The TARDIS landed with a screech and a jolt.
"Did I do something wrong?" asked Peter nervously.
"No," Clara reassured him, "that was just right."
The Doctor, in Peter's body, did not look pleased. He reached out and could just reach the controls for the doors.
"Let's see where we are," he said, leading the way. He didn't know what was going on, but he was hoping htat wherever the TARDIS had brought hi would provide some explanation.
He stepped out of the TARDIS, closely followed by the others, and straight into the waitnig grasp of the Ergon.
****
The other TARDIS, also on the verge of materialising, started bleeping and booping and Cloister Bell-ering at an alarming rate.
Daak looked on edge. To him, sirens meant trouble, immediate and deadly and equipped wiht a sink plunger.
"I don't like this," he growled.
"Neither does the TARDIS!" the fifth Doctor cried, runnign around the console and adjusting the instruments as he did, desperately trying to regain some control. "Our timepath vector is taking us straight out of the universe!"
"No Daleks outside the universe," muttered Daak. "Don't want to go too far from them."
"A unique position," the Doctor remarked, "I don't think I've ever met anybody who wanted to be close to a Dalek." He flung a switch. "Davros included!" he continued, as though in triumph.
"You fixed it?" Daak asked.
"Rest assured," the Doctor replied, "we're now completely stable."
The TARDIS promptly lurched, let out a roar from the console, and Daak and the Doctor fell to the floor and rolled helplessly across the console room. The exterior doors opened before them and they found themselves sprawled before.....
"Omega!"

“Doctor?” Peter in 12’s body said, stopping just as they got out of the TARDIS.
“Yes?” 12 in Peter’s body said, noticing Peter looked nervous.
“I’m scared” Peter said, who despite wearing 12’s adult body looked exactly like the scared little boy that he was.
Clara gave Peter a comforting maternal hug and motioned over to 12 to talk to the boy.
12 came over Peter and said “A very long time ago, when I was a little boy, well when I was a little boy originally, I got some very wise advice.”
“What’s that?” Peter asked
“Scared is a super power” 12 said, and then he did something he wouldn’t have done normally and gave Peter a hug.
Then the three of them Peter, Clara and 12 had a group hug together.

The Ergon wasn't best pleased at being dragged about by the little Doctor, and unfortunately interpreted the group hug as some sort of defensive assault upon its person, so it chose that moment to return to Omega's realm, taking the Doctor with him.
Clara and Peter were left in the mysteirous cave with the TARDIS.
Clara sighed theatrically. "I always tell him, don't wander off."
"We should explore," said Peter importantly. "That's what Doctor Who always does. And I'm Doctor Who."
"I think we might be better off in the TARDIS," Clara replied firmly. "Find where that thing took him."
Peter ignored her, and strode off out of side down a tunnel. As CLara took over after him, she heard a cry, and he ran back towards her. The boy was crying.
"What on Earth's wrong?" He'd taken the (admittedly, unimpressive) monster and the disappearnce of his own body in his stride, so what could have caused this?
"She's.... dead!" wept the overgrown boy.
Clara sat him down on a rock, and went to investigate. Round the corner, she found... well, it was a casket, a coffin, but with half the lid made of glass. Inside she could see a woman, who did indeed appear to be dead.
"I wonder if she's a hairdresser," Clara muttered. Examining the coffin, she found a plaque bearing a name - "Tayin". It didn't mean anything to her.
