The first 15 minutes is at the end of tomorrow's podcast.
I think we are in for a treat. The dialogue is the rich exquisite dialogue you'd expect from an RTD script
Can't wait to hear the rest

Downloading it now, and I've noticed that it is filed as dwlssp01-mind-of-the-hodiac... Is there any chance we've heard about more lost stories to come?

This one had better be worth spending money on. I'm not so rose-tinted glasses when it comes to what RTD did for Who...

I cannot say how much I loved Mind of the Hodiac, from start to finish. Russell T Davies' first ever Doctor Who script perfectly captures the Sixth Doctor in the 1980s, making it a mindful modern masterpiece. Bravo to all the cast and crew at Big Finish! (Now I have my fingers crossed for the PDF script to be added to our accounts.) And by the way... I loved that little mention of the Shadow Proclamation.

Its a wonderful sincere mash note to Doctor Who and those 90s early 2000s Dramas that were neither overly setimental nor depressingly grim.
Great Guest Cast and you can tell Colin's loving the Doctor's interactions with them.
Well done everyone involved.

Hmm. I am a bit divided on this.
Well, first off, this was near perfectly performed and everybody gave their best. Colin is great, so is Bonnie Langford and Annette Badland. It was a joy to hear them together. As for the story.... What a curious mix of the usual tried and used RTD plot and ideas that were also used in the movie Hancock.
Sadly, I would have wished for more creepy and mystical elements instead of what we actually got. It just boiled down to the usual Who plot and I was disappointed since this could have been really atmospheric and creepy.
So now we are with what I did not like: The music. Yes, I imagine they were going for a more artistic and "different" sound with this and all the piano music... but I was not a fan. Personal taste. And then all the strange psychic fallout that affected the Doctor and made him cite the Wind in the Willows. Hey, I love Wind in the Willows, the animated movie was my favorite movie as a little kid!
But this was just too much. Instead of coming across as mystical and creepy, it did just slightly annoy me.
The same with the woman that repeated everything the Hodiac said and felt and did verbally. This was like a very bad imitation of Sigourney Weaver in "Galaxy Quest".
Well, yes, they really tried to do something special with this release, with an awesome cast and some artistic decisions that made this sound different, weird and a bit apart of the usual releases. I very much appreciate this effort.
However, this release just did not quite land with me.
Maybe I will feel different when I will do a re-listen at a later date.

I found that a bit underwhelming to be honest.
Its got a sense of the ideas that RTD would hone later on, but it is utterly knee-capped by the traits of the 80s Who era it’s emulating. The plot takes an age to get going, with aplenty of superfluous TARDIS scenes, resulting in the Doctor and Mel not meeting any supporting characters till over halfway through (the comedy receptionist doesn’t count)! There are so many superfluous characters, like the array of minions the Hodiac just kills off whenever he fancies it, the aforementioned receptionist and the woman whose only job is to repeat after the Hodiac and give him someone to talk to as he just casually saunters his way to actually doing anything. There’s also the faction of warriors wanting to fight the Hodiac’s hired warriors for reasons which aren’t really elaborated at all.
So you end up with a well-performed (Annette Badland especially has a ball with her dialogue) and well-produced hybrid, sporting gems of ideas that RTD has built on spectacularly elsewhere and all the flaws to be expected with 80s Who.

Two extras for this one have dropped into my account feed... one of which goes to an error404 page! That'd better not be an April's fool, guys. I am capable of having major sense of humour failures.

A bit of a disappointment, really. Nothing actively bad, but when you're used to a far better type of story from Russell T Davies, Big Finish and Doctor Who in general, Mind of the Hodiac seems a little underdeveloped. Full review here: who-review.com/2022/04/01/review-mind-of-the-hodiac/

Yeah, that's kind of how I felt too. But I do have to say how much I love Annette Badland in everything she does. That woman can't do wrong in my opinion. I can't think of anything I've heard of seen her in where she wasn't superb.

Still no PDF script, I'm afraid. They're rarer than hen's teeth these days, sad to say. We'll all just have to hope we can hang on to enough of our hearing until we finally lose our minds and lose interest in Who Audio dramas.
Which would you have preferred - the fan-boy's original reject or Scott Handcock's polished modern version?
(Both, obviously, for me... )
