It's the hype and culture surrounding the product, rather than the product itself that makes these desirable. It's the rush to get into ASDA, HMV or Sainsburys to get the vinyl ahead of everyone else that flogs a substantial amount of the vinyls, not buying it to take it out of the wrapper and playing it.
Echoes of Extinction is a prime example of this and how long it was available from Amazon before eventually selling out and that was limited to 1,000 copies, didn't have any other physical release and was part of a bigger project. That was far more accessible than having to go into ASDA or Sainsburys or whatever.
As an aside, it does surprise me that the vinyls can be bought individually for the Ninth Doctor Adventures and Dalek Universe. If Ravagers is 65% sold out, then how little are the following three volumes? I'd have thought you'd pre-order them all or none at all.

I have been a vinyl collector nearly 36 years now.. I was 10 when I got my 1st vinyl, Black Sabbath. The issue with "Echoes" I feel is that BF just didn't have enough copies for sale and physical product was limited to the UK.

Thats 650 copies sold, multiply that by £36 an thats £23,400.... hot damn. (I am one of the 650 🤪)
so 65% is just the vinyl copies? Is that how we read it? If so I wonder how many cd copies have sold, and digital only.. I got both, so by extension I got all 3 (digital).

The issue with "Echoes" I feel is that BF just didn't have enough copies for sale and physical product was limited to the UK. I don’t think that’s any different to the previous in-store retailer exclusives. The difference here is that it’s been more readily available to order than needing to be in the store on the day to secure a copy. It’s that slight difference in how to obtain it that’s altered the desirability of the product. That thrill of the chase culture isn’t there and it’s that which is driving the sales, rather than the product itself, I think.

Tbf from my perspective, i have only bought the one as funds are limited but also, unlike say dalek universe, these are all Seperate volumes, not connected so i dont feel the need to collect them all. I might possibly, depending on how much money i have and how pretty the art is, but i feel like just having The first ninth doctor story on vinyl is enough.

I have been a vinyl collector nearly 36 years now.. I was 10 when I got my 1st vinyl, Black Sabbath. That was actually my third LP... Johnny the Fox (Thin Lizzy) was the first album I ever bought. The issue with "Echoes" I feel is that BF just didn't have enough copies for sale and physical product was limited to the UK. It seems like Big Finish only had a few copies of Echoes of Extinction to sell alright, but Amazon didn't seem to have a problem sending me a copy to Ireland, which actually worked out better for me as I didn't have to get someone to trawl around an ASDA store in England looking for a copy!

And it doesn't help the Aussie Prime Minister basically put a tax on anything/everything being bought online from every country outside of Australia. We get slugged multiple different taxes. Its great LOLZ

I hereby demand that this be released tomorrow. Don't we already know that it's coming out on the 13th? I mean, I'd be happy too if they listened to your demand!

I would prefer tomorrow ( I do have a nice 3 hour drive to do), but where did you hear the 13th? It was reported by a website. Cant remember which one. Definitely won’t be tomorrow. It’ll likely be the Paul Magrs audiobooks this week.

it may 5 already WHERE IS NINE!! ?!?!? also 3 and sarah jane i cant wait for nine i think everything about nine was new and fresh and fun. it was an amazing relaunch of the show. one thing big finish taught me is there are no bad doctors but 9 is a personal favorite of mine. also i really liked the idea of the post time war universe a lot more than the actual time war.

I think at this point Big Finish know it’s going to be among this years best selling releases.
