Let's gather our ideas and see what we can do to make this forum a home, even if just for now.
My #1 is could we simplify the number of categories - it is not very user friendly, especially on mobile
#2 add some artwork to the top
#3 make the big categories collapsible

Generally agreed, Tony. I'd collapse the Highlander/Stargate sections into the "Other Audios" section too, much as we loved them they're gone.

I've been on other Proboard forums and there are a lot of ways to configure the forum to make it unique. One nice thing was that the moderators found ways to add multiple banners that the forum members could choose to personalize their screens.

I agree with all of Tony's. It's a nice thought to copy all of BF's subforums but charitably, giving Highlander the sam significanc as Doctor Who is not needed. Logging in in my phone last night there was so much clutter.

Oh, and the reviewers section at the top is a bit intrusive. It makes the forum seem like its for compiling reviews more than user-discussion.

Ok, so who's the mod. Can he/she try some of these suggestions?

One of my concerns has been the lack of engagement from admin. It is possible under proboards (I've looked) to delegate a lot of structural control to subset of admins that don't end up owning the forum but are different from moderators. I appreciate many of us have other commitments but also tend to feel whoever set this up needs to either find time to look after it (at least at first) or delegate some authority to a group that would be only to happy to help out, without taking anything away form the person who set this up.
I would also disable guest posting as well (which I think is currently allowed)

It hasn't happened yet, but it will. ALSO: Could the Admin please tell us who they are? Why all the anonymity?

Perhaps a different favicon (the image you see on the tab next to the page name) from the default ProBoard one. A competition to design a new logo might be fun.

Yeah, this forum need a little bit of work. but it's a good start.
I'd personally consolidate various boards as follows
All the reviews into a single review board, Doc Oho was fine with just a single thread on the last site, and I don't see those boards getting much activity outside the relevant reviewers. I'd also Move them down on the page and put the actual Big Finish discussion up top.
I'd Merge Highlander and Stargate into the Other Big Finish discussion, as those are "Dead" products.
I'd Megre Textbook stuff into a single board.
I'd Merge Gallifrey, Charlotte Pollard, Jago & Litefoot, Iris, Torchwood & Unit into a Doctor Who spinoffs board as alone, they never really drew much traffic on the old board.
I'd Merge Vienna, Confessions of Dorian Gray, Graceless and Cleaning up into a Big Finish Originals board.
Just a few idea's off the top of my head.

The number 1 issue for me is who is the admin, what are their intentions and why don't they respond to any questions or posts?
Everything else can be fixed easily enough, this issue could bite us harder on the bum then even BF did.

While I (very much) appreciate what the Admin has done in setting this board up, I do worry that with a less than active admin, this forum could disappear faster than the BF one and we would be in the same position as before (if not worse).
Cheers
Tony

Everything else can be fixed easily enough, this issue could bite us harder on the bum then even BF did. I sort of get your point about the almost elusive nature of the administrator on here. John from RRR website has raised the question. I have experience running the HP web forum for HP Business systems and also the Pro IT Support forums as sub-admin for Lotus Software, god restates sold. But we have had little conversation. I on the back on this, I have once again emailed the admin about these questions. Let see what the reply all be.

Agreed, Jason, I am wondering who the admin is, also.
And good suggestions, Star Platinum.

I suspect the admin didn't realise how much might be involved beyond grabbing a vanilla site. One reason I'm not in a position to start a hosted site is day job, reviewing, several blogs and writing aspirations!

I'm liking the news marquee at the top of the site - well done whoever implemented it Cheers Tony
