Since the 60th anniversary of DW is only a few years away, I thought it would be fun for us to all discuss what would be on our own personal wishlist of characters, plot, etc we want to be included in the 60th anniversary special? Mine: I only can really think of two things that I really want for 60th: If 12 and Clara come back for the 60th and have some cute romantic subtext, that’s good enough for me! Bring them back and I don’t really care about anything else! The 60th could fall completely apart other than that and I would still be happy and satisfied because they were back!😊 Sidenote: To be honest I would probably be tempted to skip watching the 60th if 12 doesn’t come back 😞 What is on your DW 60th wishlist?

3 part feature length. The Division focused plot with lots of jumping back & forth through time. All New Who Doctors & a couple of classic companions (Tegan & Jo Grant) alongside the return of Graham & Ryan. 13 & Ruth Doctor team up ending with 13 regenerating into Ruth Doctor.

Why would there be one? A 60th anniversary isn't a thing.

Why would there be one? A 60th anniversary isn't a thing. It obviously won't be as big a deal as the fiftieth but every other ten-year anniversary has been marked, even in the years where the show was off the air!

Don’t know what I’d want exactly. But I’d like to see them try something different than the usual Multi Doctor fare.

Bring back the Taran Woodbeast!
I'm not a huge one for anniversaries. Fair enough, the 50th was a milestone, but too many get-togethers would lessen their impact. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I'd watch it anyway!

I think that the 60th, being for the overall series and associated wider impact of the series as a cultural icon, that its not easy for the current new-who to capture that, especially given that many of the classic series cast & crew are either no longer with us or getting on a fair bit.
The new series would be better placed to mark its own 20th anniversary in 2025 in terms of an in-programme celebration.
For 2023, I would be more interested in what is commemorated elsewhere in terms of merchandise, events, documentaries, Blu-Ray's Vinyl's, Books etc. Remembrance of the Daleks and Silver Nemesis managed to pay dues to the past for the 25th without a big Five Doctors style celebration and I think that unless they have an Eccleston, Tennant, Smith Capaldi & Whittaker get together, that would be enough for me.
I am more a Classic Series fan myself, but I think that its a bit far into the long grass now to be brought back into the current incarnation of the series. They both seem more of separate entities now than they did in the period of 2005-2013.

I am more a Classic Series fan myself, but I think that its a bit far into the long grass now to be brought back into the current incarnation of the series. They both seem more of separate entities now than they did in the period of 2005-2013. Well, that was the beauty of the fiftieth. On television, we had the homage to the revived series with the Time War, but in the comics, we also got a tribute to the classic series in Hunters of the Burning Stone. In a way that wasn't just putting those old elements on parade for the spectacle alone. Ian and Barbara had a genuinely clever and heartfelt reason to be a part of the proceedings. With an Eleventh Doctor filled with doubt, questioning his value as a person, we get Ian coming in and championing him. Not because of the Doctor's grand odyssey, uniquely, but because of what he saw of his first incarnation in those first years. He lifts him up by the character's roots. Whatever face he wears now, he can still see the old man from Totter's Lane who became family, and he's not going to give up on him now. Keeping true to Ian and Barbara's role -- keeping the Doctor true to his better nature. Things like that make the anniversary specials work. Revisiting those old themes, as much as the times, spaces, places and people who influenced or were influenced by them. Like, Remembrance's decision to come back to the beginning, after a fashion, felt like a waypoint. A familiar point of departure to commit to something the show had never done before. The long conflict between the Doctor and the Daleks began with Skaro and it ends (for the time being) with Skaro. The elements are sort of there with Silver Nemesis, as well. The Doctor's enemies for the statue embody elements he's always fought against -- superstition (Peinforte), fascism (de Flores) and the loss of self (the Cybermen).

With the recent announcements it got me thinking about the Sixtieth Anniversary…
With (I assume) the previous story ending with a regeneration, it would seem a perfect opportunity to have a different type of multi-Doctor story with past actors playing the Doctor. There will be no interaction between the different Doctors, so scheduling their availability should be easier. Plus they don’t have to pretend they are still the same age as when they played the part. Something has gone wrong. The Doctor is stuck between his thirteenth and fourteenth incarnation. Trying to stabilise himself, his body uses past patterns, but these templates are unstable and have degraded over time, so the Doctor appears older than he did before and keeps changing from one incarnation to another.
A past associate/friend/enemy of the Doctor has come seeking assistance but finds that the Doctor is in no set shape to help!
However, the Doctor must try to rectify his regeneration whilst fighting foes and having another amazing adventure in space and time.
Imagine at the end of Jodie’s last episode she regenerates into David Tennant…What! What? WHAT!?

With recent announcements I'm wondering if the Division & Fugitive Doc will play a part in the specials. I would now be interested in either a special that includes a few actors playing the Doctor, all of them thinking they're the doctor but we find out who it is at the end. Or 13 & Fugitive Doc team up at the end of 13s era with 13 regenerating into Fugitive Doc! So we go into the 60th with 2 Jo Martins!

Given it’s tied to the BBC’s centenary and the ongoing Timeless Child/Division plots which might pay into it, I wonder if Whittaker’s departure special will end up being the more traditional continuity celebration and the actual stuff released in 60th year will just be a launch of the new era.

With Jodie departing the year previously, I'm presuming she wouldn't want to come back straightaway, so already there's potential shades of Tom Baker in "The Five Doctors". That being said, this is really the absolute last-chance to have a clasic multi-Doctor extravaganza... leave the nuWho actors for the 75th, maybe.
But they're not all up to running around in rural Wales, so something a bit more nuanced is called for. As I've suggested before, an animated series is probably the best bet:
* to feature all Doctors, or at least as many who'll agree, including e.g. Tim Treloar * round-robin style, with Doctors (and perhaps Doctorless episodes) appearing in random order, but taking on a character or place or object or concept from the preceding episode * separate pre-titles mini-adventures, following the structure of "Batman: Brave and the Bold" * the sixth Doctor's story being set during the journey to Spain in "The Two Doctors", so we get more of the 6/Peri/Jamie combo
Would a big live-action anniversary episode still be required after that? Conceivably; so let's have it meaningful but not bombastic, with Susan as the mcguffin/antagonist and post-Time War Omega giving the Doctor sage, cross-dimensional wisdom/advice.

Let's have a multi-Master event for the 60th. Michelle Gomez, Sacha Dhawan & Jerome Flynn as the Ainley Master.
