Even though I personally thought it was alright I wonder if having Adric appear here is Big Finish’s way of making up to Matthew Waterhouse for The Boy That Time Forgot?

I love this TARDIS team, so pleased that we’ve got more news and a release date. It’s great that already recorded stories seemingly won’t take up a release slot for the new boxset range.

Pleae dont release these box sets in those bulky 5CD jewel cases as i can't fit them into my CD storage racks.
This is really messing up my continuity in my collection.

I thought I recognised the titles from somewhere. Ah, yes! The releases that were originally planned for the Main Range! So gonna pre-order this!

From the podcast I have to laugh when Nick says that CDs aren’t selling well Considering that they cut back so much from the CDs such as artwork, individual artwork and the booklets it’s frustrating Plus when Nick mentions environmental issues I had to raise my eyebrow when they released the legacy of time and masterful Boxsets as they take up so much more room and space then the original limited editions not to mention they charge even more then the original limited editions

That synopsis of The Lost Resort does sound uncomfortably close to reality and it's hard not to think from reading it that the right thing was done in delaying these. Glad we're finally getting to hear them all the same.
What on Earth are you talking about? What in that synopsis is too close to comfort given current events? Im genuinely not seeing it. PLEASE say it isn't the word "patients". Jesus wept.

Indeed I was pretty livid when they changed series 11 and 12 from the individual artwork 2 episodes to one jewel case

I understand your frustration. That’s a risk whenever you embark on any sort of collection. Styles change either through design decisions or fiscal necessity. At the end of the day it’s still a collection of official CDs from Big Finish, and all the other collectors are in the same boat as you. Too true! I was collecting a series of books during my teens, something like fourteen in total by the end. After about the seventh book, they changed the size of their paperback editions from a regular book to something closer to A4 sized. My shelf was woefully ill-equipped to accommodate this change and I had to find a whole new way of housing the books just so I could continue collecting them. The story was worth it by the end though, so even thought the series looks a horrible mess on the shelf (6 regular paperback, 1 hardcover, the other 6-7 oversized paperback), at least I can still read them all

I had something similar. Halfway through the UK publishers switched from beautiful artwork featuring a scene from the story to a generic logo coloured different for each subsequent volume. Worse, the US retained their artwork until the end. Still, the story was what I was collecting. The presentation was a nice-to-have. That didn't happen to be The Wheel of Time, did it? My dad's collection of those books sounds suspiciously like yours

CDs are more expensive to produce now than they were 20 years ago, so by using 3/4-disc jewel cases with a single piece of artwork, that cost can be reduced. I agree it's frustrating (I'm mainly a CD collector myself), but I believe it is mainly to do with production costs. The environmental issues are, again, production. A 2x2CD jewel case boxset contains more plastic than a 1x4CD jewel case for example. The Legacy of Time and Masterful boxsets were made mainly of cardboard. As I say, I agree it's frustrating but it seems like their reasons are justified.

The Legacy of Time & Masterful sets were both made with far more plastic than the previous limited edition releases and are also unnecessarily oversized!

You don't think a story about patients at a facility who "end up as shadows of their former selves", and also involves a recently departed loved one (Adric), might not have been a *bit* too close to the bone if this story had been released as originally scheduled in September last year?

Maybe for some people... but we don't all need to be wrapped in cotton wool so I personally wouldn't see it as a reason not to release it. It's still just fiction at the end of the day.

Oh, wow. I was a bit anxious about it, but I'm very--VERY--happy that they'll be continuing the short story format in this new Boxset era.
